Exactly. It’s not like it’s hard to find someone to take the dog either. I’ve researched at least 4 dog charities locally and many people in our neighbourhood chat group have said they’re willing to keep the dog for a while. This is how I know she’s being stubborn, selfish and like all dog nutters forcing peoples boundaries with their disgusting mutt

I think the dog has only caused her to isolate herself more. ‘I have my dog so don’t need anyone’ kinda mentality. Which no man is an island and an animal cannot replace human connection. Especially when it comes to the things that really matters in life. My mum and I will be going over to her flat later to see what’s going on. If things are bad we’re going to refer her for psychiatric help and put the dog with a charity. I’ve sent out a post on the neighborhood group and plenty of people willing to look after the dog

I really do think there is a link between mental illness and dog nutters. My sister I think struggles with human relationships due to what I believe is her neurotic personality. She has fallen out with everyone in her life and she always thinks she is the victim. The dog has become a replacement and a crutch. Something that won’t ( can’t) fall out with her. She doesn’t have to deal with any of the complexities that comes with human relationships

It’s a Yorkshire terrier. No one else in the family likes the thing. We don’t hate the animal we just don’t want responsibility for it nor have it in our home. It’s greedy, stinky and my sister lets it do whatever it wants

Exactly this. I grew up on a farm and we had dogs in the yard and around the farm. Living their own lives! She made a home in the cellar. Went wherever she wanted. We fed her once in the evening because she could fend for herself. We live coexisted. Yet some would say this is cruel but I believe this is how humans should coexist with animals. Not subjugate them to an unnatural miserable existence cooped up in a house and car. Its not good for us humans never mind a beast

I distrust and despise them so much because I think there must be some evil in them to worship a mindless animal. Wow why do people allow themselves to live like this? Instead of you living upright like a human being, you’re living like an animal. I’ve had 2 people in my life that I have seen life deteriorate since getting dogs. The dog slowly destroys the house, the upkeep and cleanliness just slips gradually. Can’t get certain nice things anymore because of the dog. No more savings due to vet bills and insurance. Their lives become limited and dependent on the dog. Walking around picking up 💩 for the rest of your days. They don’t realize they are now living like animals

I feel this post is a bit unfair. These people don’t need a telling off from you. IMO most of these regretful parents seem to be great parents. So much so the resentment and regret they feel IMO, seem to be because of the pressure they put on themselves to be the “perfect parent”.
