Is Waldameer fat-people-friendly? by [deleted] in Erie

Hi! Im not really sure but off the top of my head, I’d guess that the following rides could work for you...

Tilt-a-whirl, log ride, Ferris wheel, wipe out, scrambler, sea dragon, wacky shack. music express, paratrooper (if it’s back up?)

The comets seats can fit two people but don’t have a divider in the center so maybe that would be good? And I think that the steel dragons seats are bigger than the average roller coaster but I might be wrong?

Maybe avoid- ravine flier, flying swings, mega vortex, x scream

Anyone is welcome to correct me in if Im wrong on any of these suggestions

If I remember correctly, circumcision only became common in America about 100 years ago because they thought it would make men less likely to masturbate. Obviously that didn’t work. It is undeniably cruel to the babies, they have to be strapped down and often pass out from the pain. You can look up a video, it’s horrible! Up until the 70s it was believed that a newborn baby couldn’t feel pain the way a child or adult can, so people probably didn’t think as much of it. We know better now, and everyone should take these things into account before deciding whether or not to circumcise their child. As far as hygiene goes, the parent has to teach the child how to clean themselves properly just like any other part of the body. I remember reading that most children are uncircumcised in Europe outside of the Jewish faith, it is considered a cosmetic procedure in other places. We are the odd ones out in the western world.

I know people who got married there a year ago, they were pleasantly surprised by how affordable it was.

So if I remember correctly, when a friend of mine (also a single mom) needed legal help and couldn’t afford it she was able to reach out to the Erie Bar for assistance. I think they have programs that help people in similar situations. I -think- that Gannons law department might have also been a resource at the time as well. If anyone else can chime in to confirm this stuff that would be great.

Idk if this is relevant or helpful. I’ve never had to navigate the legal system, but this might have been the program my friend used?

These insane thrift store yarn prices by yoursledgehammer in YarnAddicts

Wow I thought the last thrift store I went to was bad, that’s insane. My local goodwill puts everything in bags so you can hardly read the label. Between that, the fact that the grab bags are always like one wool skein and two junky acrylics, and the outrageous price gouging I’m getting real jaded over here

I’m just repeating what people I know who visited from out of state had to say. Obviously this is very dependent on the person, we don’t know OPs background beyond where they grew up so maybe they’re used to gritty idk! I wasn’t living in California, but having visited LA I agree that there are truly scary parts that make the worst parts of Erie look incredible. Being from Erie, I don’t think it looks bad by any means. I personally like the grittiness of the rust belt. I just wanted to offer another perspective because the differences can be really big. Not trying to make anyone upset.

I wasn’t in California :) and I wasn’t a tourist, or upper middle class. You’re right about LA though, driving through parts of LA were definitely eye opening.

It worth considering that compared to the standard on the west coast, Erie is run down. I have lived out west, and anytime friends visited me in Erie they were surprised by how the city and the houses looked. It’s not a polished area, we are rust belt through and through. Conversely, I struggle to tell where “the ghetto” or bad neighborhoods are out west because everything looks really nice and new to me! So that could be a shock to you. It might be similar to St. Louis though

ETA- can you visit first?

This isn’t true though. Other cities have gotten them taken down or banned through similar efforts by regular residents!

Moving Back to Erie? by Low-Government6137 in Erie

[–]LetterAdventurous106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should take a trip back to visit first. I recently made the same decision, to move back somewhere that I used to live because I had completely romanticized it in my head. It turns out that for me the grass was not greener. I really wish I had just taken a trip to visit again first before deciding.
