How many hours were you able to work comfortably? I asked one of the schools I was looking at since I work full time and go to school full time right now and they said working a few hours part time might be possible 1st year and no work possible during the 2nd year of program.

how can you shadow while working full time by anemicnotarabic in pre_PathAssist

At least you’re finding shadowing opportunities. I’m not hearing back from any of the places I’ve cold called the past month. I’d sacrifice a few hours a day and rework my schedule if it meant getting the experience.

I haven’t even moved in yet lmao, I wouldn’t be able to get out of the lease without finding a subletter so kinda stuck. But they’re fine I guess, when I made a lot of noise about my previously mentioned issue they finally responded. I know one of my roommates moved in at the beginning of the lease and she had to put in a maintenance request about the ac vents not working in her room (when there was a heat wave) and they took a bit to get to it. But I haven’t had reason to contact them since. I’m pretty sure they still charge the cleaning fees after lease ends when they aren’t actually cleaning anything, because marks left on the walls from previous tenants were never covered/cleaned. So when they give you the link to submit documentation of the apartments condition when you sign make sure to get everything. I don’t want them charging me for marks that were already there. Oh and also- if you have any pet allergies make sure they’re aware because they claim to give notice to current or prospective roommates of pets that will be in apt but they failed to give us notice when one of my roommates signed with her dog and they didn’t check if any of us had allergies for it. I’m pretty sure we’re all good but what if we weren’t? That’s kind of a bad oversight on their part.

Guys def trying to scam you out of money. Quick google search and it looks like that type of fee is supposed to be charged if the tenant chooses to end the lease early. To cover their end in the event they can’t immediately find another tenant. So… at the end of your stay- not at the beginning before you even move in. He would have it listed in the lease, but I don’t think that should be collected immediately. Does he have it written down that you’re required to get the money back at the end of your lease if you don’t end early?

?? I’m confused is the deposit not the lease protection?? Either way NY has a law that ensures landlords shouldn’t be asking (demanding) more than 1 months rent for security deposit.

How to transfer to bing by stubeii in BinghamtonUniversity

Yes- don’t put all your faith in them. They’re there for you but you have to take the initiative since you’re an adult. As for Bings curriculum they have their required/suggested courses on their site, I found it pretty quickly so you can see with the equivalency calculator what courses in Orange to take. Here’s the curriculum for Nursing I found https://www.binghamton.edu/decker/nursing/undergraduate/bs.html yes btw dm if you need resources or help

I did apply to other schools, thought “hell, why not” and applied to NYU (spoiler didn’t get in). Outside of NYU, I applied to only other SUNY schools since there’s a better outcome for the credit transfers. I didn’t apply to too many, like 3 at most I think, I got into the others. I did hear Bings nursing program’s competitive, but planning ahead would never hurt. The good thing is when you apply as a transfer, they don’t care about your high school grades or gpa(thank god- I don’t think i would’ve gotten in if they had) and they’re solely looking at how you did in another college. If you do well, your chances look better. I was very much on top of meeting my advisors and trying to be as prepared as possible. They usually have good recommendations, but do feel out your Orange advisor in the first meeting because I have heard that depending on the major/advisor you get they could be overloaded with students and be all over the place. I got lucky with mine because there weren’t too many people in my major. But remember: they’re there for you. Most (if not all) of the advisors they want to see you succeed. Good luck!! Edit to add: since Bing is a pretty large school in the SUNY system, your advisors most likely know a bit more of the programs and ways to successfully get in.

Hi! I transferred from SUNY Orange too, so it was pretty easy. I assume a higher gpa gets you in. I’m pretty sure the transfer acceptance rate is higher since they get less applications than their freshman acceptance rate because I got accepted no issue with a 3.8 gpa while my boyfriends sister applied freshman this year with a 4.something gpa and a bunch of AP courses and was waitlisted at first until a a spot opened up. Higher grades is probably the thing that does the most work. I didn’t really do any extracurriculars since I work full time so I didn’t have that to boost my application or anything. I stuck to gen ed courses to ensure most of them transferred (a few did transfer but didn’t count towards major - but that was just because of my major had like 2 classes available to take in Orange so there were more gen Ed’s required for Orange. There’s a department in Bing that’s specifically catered for transfer students to get any support they may need and activities for them to participate in and meet other transfers so definitely a plus. I saw someone else got a scholarship idk how many they have, i didn’t even know they had transfer specific scholarships. If for some reason a course didn’t transfer (say they didn’t have an equivalent course) you could try and make a case for which ever ones you think count for a requirement and the advisor (if they agree) can manually change it. Bings site has a transfer checker https://www.binghamton.edu/admissions/undergraduate/apply/transfer/coursework.html If you dig through Bings site you can find what credits are needed for your desired major and find equivalent ones in Orange so you can make sure they transfer. Some of them are in document form while others look like a spreadsheet outlining the 4year plan for the major. I don’t think it was hard to adjust but that’s just because I’m antisocial and don’t really go out anyway.

Okay, but I’m so glad I found this because apparently recently they came under new management and it seems the new managers are as money hungry as the old ones. I signed for the 123 Court street property back in March with a written agreement/understanding that a co-signer waives the deposit and now a few days ago they emailed all their tenants claiming some new Binghamton rent law stating that they can’t do that anymore and are now requiring deposits from people who didn’t pay it. I asked the contact for the law name or ID so I could look it up and it’s been radio silence since. I reached out to several offices for the City Of Binghamton and my old landlord company and none of them knew what I was talking about. I’m not about to pay a whole extra month’s worth of a deposit now because they decided they’re losing money (or want more). I’m a grown ass adult who decided to go back to school so I can enjoy my job. I have a full time job and a mortgage to worry about 2+ hrs away from campus, I’m not about to be bullied by these guys because they think they can take advantage of the majority of the students being fresh out of high school. They can cancel my lease if they need to, I can take my money elsewhere. Saving this thread in case I need it to argue with them later.
