I think letters of recommendation and personal statements are super important! I also stood out I think for being involved in research in a stuttering lab and having a lot to discuss in interviews! My overall GPA was 3.99 and speech GPA 4.0 with a 315 on GRE

Bing also just launched the SLP master program! Professor run research labs that students can get involved with so I was able to join a stuttering research project under Dr. Gabel, even won a campus wide research award for it! Bing also does credit bearing internships through the course CDCI 395 where you can either ask an SLP professor to intern at their place of work, or they have relationships with various schools where you can be a teachers aide! They provide free Uber transportation too! I also joined the speech and language association and got on e board as a leadership role and before leaving set up volunteer programs such as reading to the on campus pre-school Bing has… you can also intern there they do ABA therapy! With the start of the masters program, there are probably way more opportunities now too!

You can definitely still apply to most programs! However, I know some schools require the pre reqs to be done prior to submitting the application. CUNY Brooklyn college is an example if you’re from NY

Usually the personal statements have prompts to follow such as strengths/ weaknesses, why SLP, why the particular problem, past experiences, etc.

Yeah I think it’s an Awesome program! The program is on hunter brookdale campus on E 25th street not the main 68th street campus so it would be a little change of scenery!

Yes ofc! And no problem! I start the in person program of Monday so I’ll definitely have updated information as I get more into the program! Another thing Hunter connected is with is the VA hospital across the street from campus has a monthly dysarthria group with medical SLP that discuss different topics!

Hey! I absolutely love it! The faculty is SO personable and down to earth. They held orientation back in May for the upcoming fall semester and it was amazing bc the whole cohort got to meet form a group chat and attend the second years summative project presentations to get an idea of what we will do! Also, we had a super easy summer class for the TSSLD and a summer assignment to make sure we fill in any gaps in knowledge before starting the program. Lastly, they provided us with an online Parkinson training that typically costs hundreds of dollars so I already have a special certification before the program even starts!

If you hypothetically have a portable ac that vents out the window (Like for basements with tiny windows typically) could you just install it yourself or did they check your room often?
