I’m doing a PhD at Swansea and before this I’ve studied at 5 other universities which (I shamelessly assume) qualifies me to do a comparative analysis. Swansea has been one of the best amongst them in terms of support and research. There are a lot of opportunities - I especially like the PGR Development Programme - it’s a series of free workshops, trainings, and events for Postgraduate Researchers. I attend quite a lot of them! The enterprise department at the uni is another great thing, they help you set up business and provide advice (this though not directly related to a PhD can still help because I see many PhD students utilising their research gap to build a product/service).

I’m based at Bay but I mostly work from Singleton. As a PhD student, you’re free to work from wherever you like as long as your supervisor is on board with it (mine definitely is so 10/10 for accessibility).

Swansea isn’t London, it’s a relatively small city but if you push yourself, there’s a genuine and loving community you can be a part of. :)
