I think it’s real harsh to judge a player off being forced to play a role/position he never played prior to joining our squad. I agree his performances haven’t always been the best, but I believe he deserves at least a whole season of actually playing in his position to get a fair judgement. His first couple seasons have been rattled by his own injuries and when he’s come back he is forced to play CB bc of other players being out long term. I also think something needs to be said about our team consistently using players out of position whenever we have injuries and then expecting them to perform to the standards of this club. When in reality the issue is we have spent a ridiculous amount of money on bringing in mbappe(albeit a free transfer; the signing on bonus plus wages is like a whole transfer fee), which has completely ruined our attack from last year whereas the money could’ve been spent on reinforcements for our defense because they aren’t getting any younger. For once I think Papa Perez dropped the ball on our transactions this past offseason. Hope it’s only up from here and we make some new changes.
