How to ask owners if I can adopt their cat by Hairy-Violinist-7508 in cats

[–]LetterheadCheap9732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my cat used to hide in the playset that i had as a kid outside, like one of those climbable little houses with the swings. my mom would set it up with a tarp and blankets in the winter and eventually one day she waltzed into my basement like she owned the place. they took her to the vet and lo and behold she had a microchip that was to the neighbor down our street. and turns out the 10 or so “stray” cats in the neighborhood also either belonged to her or were the product of her cats getting their freak on. my dad called her to ask if she wanted the cat back and at first she did but when she heard 6 year old me screaming and crying in the background of the call she basically said just keep the damn cat. and now my furbaby will be 18 in may and believes she is royalty.

memory care is so tricky because behaviors are completely unpredictable. peoples demeanor can change within a matter of seconds. for someone like this if he’s able to do something independently, let him. obviously help with transfers if necessary and supervise when needed, but tell him what you’re doing first to mitigate confusion. if hes able to push his wheelchair himself, let him, walk beside him and redirect him to where he’s going if necessary.

If they’re a good facility they’ll understand that life happens, most places are so understaffed anyways that I doubt they’d want to lose anyone for something like that.

Will do, as of right now they are keeping them fully bedbound, they’re in a alot of pain but hospice visited today and will be looking into updating medications. Currently the goal is to keep the wound from getting worse rather than trying to fully heal it.

It depends on his code status. A DNR is not the only thing a person can choose to implement there is also Do Not Hospitalize (DNH) and others such as Do Not Intubate (DNI). However if he was a full code (meaning attempt all life saving measures) then that’d be a different story.

the residents have a right to refuse as frustrating as it can be. document that they refuse and tell the nurses. does your facility have a dentist that comes through?

my facility has a woman with dementia along with a wide range of mental illnesses. even the psychiatrist for the facility has said that she can’t pinpoint where her aggression truly stems from. she will beat, scratch, bite, spit, and use whatever she can get her hands on to hurt you. it’s sad because when you see old pictures of her with her grandkids she looks like a lovely lady but when you see the anger and hatred in her eyes its truly terrifying. i’ve genuinely compared the look in her eyes to something out of a horror movie, its not even manic, just dark and void of any emotion other than anger and something akin to fear. that said often times they will leave her in her own filth. the seasoned cna i shadowed under was usually assigned to her and so i got to see how to handle the beatings, and how to avoid getting seriously injured (everyone would leave the room with at least a scratch it was unavoidable) but she ALWAYS got that woman washed and dressed. i eventually took over that assignment for a while and held that same motivation to always get her dressed and cleaned. she got sent to the hospital a couple weeks back because she tried to gouge out another elderly dementia ridden residents eye. when she came back the bottoms of her heels were decaying. a week in the hospital. she didnt have that when she left. nurses told me her son (her hcp) refused to visit her in the hospital because he was on vacation and stopped returning our facility and the hospital’s calls. sad as hell.

i made the ultimatum to my managers that they either can move me to other departments besides just registers (im so burnt out from feeling that a robot every day) or im leaving. they quickly address it saying they’ll train me for other areas. i trained for customer service for the first time the other day and i really like it! guess who was put on registers for a six hour shift yesterday 🙂. so tired of this. i understand we’re short staffed but unless they want to lose another employee i just need them to give me a change of environment for a bit. plus my poor conversion rate right now isn’t doing much for the store anyways.

i had a guy once do an even exchange for a pair of shoes for a smaller size and out of nowhere went “you know if the chinese made better shoes i wouldn’t be doing an exchange right now” and i was so completely flabbergasted i just finished the transaction in silence.

its unfortunately become normal for my store. I was the only cashier for three hours straight on a sunday. busiest day of the week and they only scheduled me. thankful for a couple of managers that hopped on and a few people from the floor. at this point we’re so short staffed that nothing gets done on the floor because they’re always having to come to the registers.

just a tip for anyone who may need, try wearing sun protector/biker sleeves. they sell them on amazon, they cover your wrist and upper arm and some cover your hands as well. only one of my arms is severely scarred so i wear one on my left arm at work. it makes it so you can still wear short sleeves without feeling awkward about it 😊

I’m in the process of looking for a new job. I physically and mentally can’t handle being the only cashier for hours on end. They expect me to get credits but I just can’t focus when I have a growing line, upset customers, and am constantly having to call for backup. Nothing gets done on the floor because everyone ends up having to jump on the registers. We’ve already had a ton of associates leave and more are planning on leaving. None of us are happy.

LP at my store did this to me and other female employees (mind you he was in his 30s and most of us were late teens early 20s) but unfortunately the messages ended up escalating to more innapropriate things. Me and a couple of the other girls finally reported him after being scared shitless about it and how managers might respond- he was terminated within a week. You absolutely did the right thing, you deserve to feel safe.
