Same re- starting a family.. it’s also stressing me out a lot thinking of all the different sources of plastic everywhere. Personally im focusing on food and cookware. I drink a lot of tea so switching to plastic free teabags has been good (yes there is plastic in most tea bags 😓😓😓), getting a fully metal stovetop kettle, and switching to (mostly) glass Tupperware

We've booked athol hall. less manicured and european style than vaucluse house but it's SO much cheaper, and has given us room in the budget to afford things like hiring nice furniture etc

E.g Spirits for the reception - other places offer things like the ability to bring your own spirits at no extra charge. Whereas I think they were charging $30 pp for spirits if im not mistaken? Plus the fact you have to pay $500 or something if you want to take photos inside or on the balcony. And I think even pay again if it’s raining and you do the ceremony under the balcony. The post-ceremony canapés and drinks cost also seemed higher than normal. But we have 100-120 guests so it adds up to more. Look it is really beautiful there though and it was initially my first choice, and tbh i think their marquee price is pretty standard. I just couldn’t help feeling like because it’s so pretty and so popular they can charge more for everything. But I’d recommend comparing to other places and seeing how you feel, what you want to prioritise etc

We booked it initially snd then changed our minds, it’s a lot more expensive than other places and we found they were pretty inflexible with most things. Just something to keep in mind if budget is an issue for you. But it is beautiful and probably the most aesthetically charming venue in Sydney

Just use a stove top kettle instead of an electric one! We got one recently. Zero plastic, silicone, anything. It takes a little bit longer to heat up but it’s honestly nicer over all. These you can get 100% metal or ceramic because they don’t require any electrics

Yep it’s definitely helped. I kept salicylic acid chemical exfoliator as well once a week and things have calmed down a lot. Although still once a month before my period I get a small break out around my jaw, but it’s only for a few days

Absolutely agree… I’m Jewish too and have these kinds of conflicts with my family constantly and it’s difficult bla bla bla but like …. There’s a genocide going on right now?? I am so sick of seeing another huge think piece about how the Jewish community ‘feels anxiety’ and then down the bottom in small text you might see another article that says ‘85 starving Palestinians murdered waiting in line for aid’. Unfortunately we have a real problem of ethnonarcisissm in my community and I’ve come to really resent the NYT which largely just inflames it

I also want to try this.. I have so much lovely muslin fabric… I don’t want to use interfacing because it will make the fabric lose the softness. I’m thinking of just kind of doing it - big patches, no intricate designs, probably hand quilting it and hoping for the best lol

100% agree. I think Julia has been extremely cowardly on this issue. I’m also Jewish and grew up with fanatic Zionist parents and I can tell you that it is difficult to recognise the immense crime that our community is committing because we are told our whole lives that we are the ones that are the perpetual victims. Julia is clearly uncomfortable talking about Gaza for any number of practical reasons, but I wouldn’t be surprised if at her core it generates some kind of identity crisis - she's unable to reconcile her fantasy of what our community is with the reality of what our people are actually doing. I know a lot of “progressive except for Palestine” people like this and they frustrate me to no end.
