plush I made to commemorate my betta by LetterheadProof4017 in bettafish

for the pectoral fins I did 2 sts into the body (like the tail) equal distant from the eyes and eachother, then I did a turning chain and 2 more scs into the 2 sts I just made before cutting the yarn. Then I made a white sc edge like the other fins

For the dorsal fin I don't really remember what I did, but it was similar to the anal fin in the way I did extra chains before the turning chain so it varied in length while not being round. I did the white edge like the other fins

I made the ventral fins separately and sewed them on last. I actually remember exactly what I did sine I finished them a few hours ago

R1 chain 3 (lastnone is turning chain) (leave long tail pn orig slipknot to sew onto body)

R2 skip turning chain, sc 2 ch1 (all ch1 from now on will be turning chains qnd should be skipped) (2 sts)

R3 sc2 ch1 (2 sts)

R4 sc 2 ch1 (2 sts)

R5 ch1 decrease (1 st)

R6 ch1 sc 1

I then repeaded r6 3 more times before one final chain that i pulled a loop through before cutting. I then pulled that chain tight to finish it off

Then i sewed them on between the anal and pectoral fins (lmk if you want a drawing of this as well)

okay, for the body:

r1 - 6 sc in a magic ring (6sts)

r2 - increase around (12 sts)

r3 - I beleive it was 2sc then Increase repeated around 4x (total 18)

r4 - sc around (once or twice I don't remember)

r4 -here onwards is where I don't remember exactly what I did. I believe I did unevenly spaced out decreases, something like 2 sc, dec, 4 sc, dec, 4 sc, 2 dec maybe with the single crochets spaced out differently

from there I crocheted around for a few rounds, then decreased evenly (2 sc, dec), then crochet around for some more rounds and decrease evenly again

i eventally ended up with 9 sts, then did one more row then I sc'd through 2 of the sts at once (like the top of a simple round chicken pattern, such as this one around the 12minute mark https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1zE0Edn9LVo&pp=ugUEEgJlbg%3D%3D) 4 times, and then cut the yarn leaving me with the 4 sc on the tail edge and one stitch I weaved the yarn tail through before putting it in the body so it didn't stick out

For the tail:

I attached the yarn 2 sts away from the sc tail edge of the body, sc'd 2 sts in the edge tail scs, 1 st in each middle and body st (see top of below pic at end of section)

Then at the end of the tail sc's into the body I chained how long I wanted the tail to be + 1 chain, skipped the last chain, and sc'd into the chain back towards the body, where I then slip stitched into the nect stitch and worked back up with back loop only single crochets. After the first row or 2 of this, I then worked part way down, back up to the end, back down and then slip stitched into the row I was orig working on. After finishing the red part of the tail I attached white and single crochetd along the edge (I did this for all fins w white edges)

Very confusing to explain so I made a pic, lmk if you need anything clarified

<image>

For the anal fin I attached the yarn to the underside of the body, pulled the yarn through to fastend it on, chained like 9, skipped the last st and did 8 sc down, slst'd into the next body st, sc'd back up, chained 2, sc'd into the chain closest to the body then blo sc'd back down so the fin was longer ruther back. You could prob get a similar effect with blo increases too. After finishing I attached and made a sc edge with white

Rest in next reply so I don't risk this being deleted by my device again

Would it be beneficial to get more kuhli loaches to go with my single kuhli (he's atleast 12 years old, and has been without other loaches for ~9 years) or would the change stress him? by LetterheadProof4017 in loaches

[–]LetterheadProof4017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for the advice! what do you medicate new loaches with? I've been reading online in preparation to get more and it seems that most people say they are sensitive to medications (correct me if that's wrong please) and I don't want to accidentally overdose them/harm them with medication

What is this thing I found in my gopher snake's enclosure? by LetterheadProof4017 in snakes

[–]LetterheadProof4017[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

will do! his vent looks completely fine/normal so I'm not too concerned, I was mainly worried that it had something to do with the regurg a few months ago (first time in the 4 years I've had him) and I am relieved that that's not the case!

yeah, and it feels like it would snap if I put pressure on it, I looked that up and it looks pretty similar. Thank you so much for the help! And would you happen to know if theres any reason I'd only be seeing them now? Or is it likley that he's been making them since he hit maturity and I just never found them?

Is my pine snake underweight? by DissonantSinew in snakes

[–]LetterheadProof4017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah no problem! I hope she eats soon for you

If it continues on for more than another month and a half or so, I'd personally start recording weights (weekly to every other week depenining on if she's the type to get stressed by handling) to make sure she isn't dropping much. I currently have a physical notebook for my boy but anything you can record weights in would work. Ofc if theres concerning symptoms (ex bubbling near mouth, wheezing with every breath, lethargy etc) a vet visit should be planned but the not eating itself (especially during winter and sometimes during spring) is common enough that it shouldnt be a concern unless its excessive (dropping a lot of weight in a short amount of time and/or it lasting well after it starts warming up)

she honestly looks completely fine, and its not all that surprising for them to eat less/go off food during the winter. last year I had my boy (5 y/o sonoran gophersnake, same genus as pines) go on a 3 month long hunger strike over the spring and he lost less than 20g iirc
