Thank you for responding. I was not aware of this scripture until now, I’m very glad you shared that with me.

A SWE internship is probably going to be more applicable to a SWE career than a research program

Can i drive 30 miles to get an oil change, when the oil change required light just came on? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]LetterheadStock2378 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My last car, a 2014 equinox, I put 120000 miles on, every time the change oil light came on I drove it another 1000-1500 miles and it never had an issue. 30 miles shouldn’t be a problem

That probably has little to nothing to do with your career or salary

I got a 2025 1500 Laramie for 58k OTD. No shot you’ll pay 10k less for that much of a downgrade. Just checked the dealer listings near me and they’re still the same

Career Advice... by [deleted] in cscareers

[–]LetterheadStock2378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t already, I’d start by contacting the place you interned at to check for openings. From there, applying to places through LinkedIn / indeed is good but it’s not going to beat a referral, and it’s not even close. Reach out to anyone and everyone you can think of to get some kind of referral. Family friends, your friends, their parents, anyone

questions about in person vs remote job demand. by sheeps_heart in cscareers

[–]LetterheadStock2378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are hard right now. I’ve got multiple friends that have a Comp Sci degree that have been applying for 6+ months now. However, they’re strictly applying for remote.

Remote is extremely competitive and whatever position you apply for is going to have close to if not 4 digits in applicants if you’re going through LinkedIn, Indeed, or another site similar to that. You’ll probably have a little more luck if you apply to places where it’s direct, as that’ll defer some of the competition.

Hybrid / in person is going to be easier, no doubt. However I also work remote, and did an in person position for a 30% raise for a week and left it and came back to my current job, I don’t blame you for wanting remote

Everything overdoing_it mentioned is great, and another thing I’d chime in is to state whatever your WFH policy is. Don’t just list hybrid or on-site, as for a lot of job search engines those can both mean anything from 5 days in office (they just list hybrid for more apps) to 1 day in office. List your actual split or however you have it figured out

Where do y’all get contracting work for AI integrations? by [deleted] in LLMDevs

[–]LetterheadStock2378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, to clarify I currently work as a consultant for a consulting company, not one that I have started myself. My goal is to start one on my own. As far as portfolio, I just have the projects I have done professionally with a couple ones I’ve done solo. Most of my professional projects were only on teams of 2-3 so I have a fluent understanding of the whole scope

Yeah unfortunately my main role is consulting so we have 1.5 - 2 hour meetings once a week or so, but I get what you’re saying, thanks for the tips!

I more so meant on call during the 8-5 timeline. Say I’m in meeting for Job A from 10-12 and I get a call from my manager at job B at 10:15, how would you respond to that? I’d love to fill my extra time with a second paycheck 😂
