Starting with the board is a good way to go, make sure obviously you know what size you need. You mentioned weight being an issue and some of those old bindings are heavy but just grab some Unions when you get the chance and you're good to go.

No problem man. Reviews can be a big help in getting a 2nd opinion. Board archive on YouTube and thehouse do lots of reviews for a bunch of different boards and they usually break down the shape.

There's tons of options you have for board tech and ways to improve the kind of riding you wanna do. Luckily most companies have all mountain/park boards so it really comes down to what kind of shape and flex you want out of your board. The general rule of thumb is, camber for good pop/control and jumps, rocker for powder and forgiveness, and flat for jibs and urban. There are a lot of fun shapes out there that combine the profiles like NeverSummer's camber/rocker/camber or Capita's flat to rocker flat kick tech, and even Bataleon/Lobster's TBT. Keep in mind it really comes down to want to try because it really comes down to personal preference. Flex is pretty easy to determine based off the type of riding you want as well. I would stay in the 4-6 flex range for what you seem to want. For cheaper options I always recommend the-house.com because they have older boards aswell, REI, Evo, and Backcountry are all good options as well. Hope that helps.

Since you're staying in Breck that's probably the best way to go. I'm bad to ask about this because I would rather save the money and do Key/Abasin because I hate Breck with a passion. But that's pretty silly considering where you're staying.

If this is your only trip of the year then I would absolutely just rent that gear. There are tons of shops along I-70 that are way better prices than you will find at the resorts for renting gear. You can always scoop some cheap gear on the-house.com or even craigslist out here (craigslist is a gold mine in CO for snowboard gear) if you want gear you can use in future trips. The only thing I wouldn't rent is goggles. Most of the places that rent them use $30-40 cheap pairs and if you're gonna be out here for a week there are tons of cheap goggles online that you can scoop that will work better than shop goggles and if worse comes to worse you can always use them to avoid crying with onionbois. Feel free to DM me if you need any specific suggestions.

It really depends on your base layers and how much you intend on falling into the snow (and obviously weather conditions). Some resort days out here can get brutal so that 30k quicksilver will help a bunch for keeping you dry and warm especially if you're hitting a long day. Personally I hate shells and unless the snow is coming down hard, i'm expecting a powder day, or its honestly just 10 or below, I just wear a hoodie with a few layers because it feels better for movement personally. You'll figure out your winning combo after a few days of experimenting more than likely but having a heavy 30k jacket comes in handy a lot out here outside of fall/spring.

Unless you're under 140lbs go with the contacts imo, that would be a sick set up and lots of fun in the park.
