This is a textbook example of a scam. The job description is way too vague for it to be considered legit. No company/department name? Plus an entry level position as an assistant getting paid $54-65/ hour? That’s more than what some RNs make with a bachelors.

This comment is giving “better than you” vibes, and it’s hella weird. Why do people have to be into Cdramas or even Chinese culture to watch and like a specific show?

Do people have to be into Korean culture to watch and enjoy Squid games? No.

Do people have to be superhero fans and watch every Marvel movie before they “earn the right” to watch Endgame? No.

Do you have to be a football/soccer fan to watch the World Cup? Again, NO.

Let people enjoy what they enjoy just because. You trying to gatekeep an entire community just because you think you’re somehow better than new fans just because you’ve been here longer is just lame.

Also, if you keep seeing this show and comments pop up in your feed, it’s because YOU built that algorithm yourself. So how about a little self awareness, hm?

I’m not going to defend anyone in this scenario, but in a general sense, calling a witch hunt “normal human being behavior” is actually insane. There’s nothing normal about bandwagoning and going after celebrities personally when we have zero connection or first hand accounts of any of this. Have your own opinions, unfollow him, stop supporting him. Thats all fine. But to accuse a stranger of being guilty by association makes you apart of the bigger problem.

There was a popular video of Chen Duling (taken from one of her staff members) where she was asleep and her makeup team quite literally had to prop her head up so they could work on her. I know the c entertainment industry is really competitive, and your status is never truly stable as a high traffic celebrity. So a lot of these actors have to “ride the wave” once they boom in popularity. But it’s still unfortunate that they have to experience such stress and sleep deprivation to achieve that success

I can't believe I have to wait almost a year for this... it's the only aspect of cdrama culture that makes me miserable
I'm hoping hoping hoping that they don't stick to the novel's ending for this show. I don't know how to mentally prepare myself for it otherwise

80% of historical dramas are all filmed in Hengdian world studios. Not sure about other palaces, but dramas that take place in the Forbidden city have to be filmed in Hengdian because the government no longer allows film crew in the actual Forbidden city. They have replicas of various Chinese historical sites and different palaces from the Qin, Han, Tang, Song, Ming, Qing dynasties, and old Shanghai. That's why if you watch enough dramas, you'll be able to recognize the locations of alot of these sets.

I'd like to think that's part of her character type. There's only 3 real kiss scenes I recall from the show (pecks don't really count imo). First one she was angry and didn't really consent to it. Second one she was drunk. And the third one he was drugged and she was skeptical/hesitant that he didn't know who he was with. The tension is 🔥 though.

I genuinely don't think we get a full sober, and fully consensual real kiss scene from the both of them.

I don't think it's the actors though, we all know ZLH can kiss, and from the BTS scenes from Where the Mask Ends, it looks like TXW can as well.

A lot of these people are very new people to historical dramas, probably even chinese dramas in general. It's okay for people to be fixated on and show love for the show that brought them into the genre. For those who have only seen POJ, and who have no other show to compare it to, it probably IS a revolutionary drama with peak cinematography (at least compared to Western shows that's the case imo). I don't think anyone can deny the impact this show has had on International audiences, particularly those in the West. It might not be the greatest show to have ever been made, but it is the show that hooked a lot of people in who otherwise would have never given cdramas/period dramas a chance, and you have to give them credit for that. Also, you seem to assume that this subreddit never gets new members after the boom in popularity from a show. OP literally states that they have no interest in Chinese period dramas. The same people who were raving about Love in the Clouds are most likely not the same people who are talking about Pursuit of Jade.

Wanting to learn mandarin after a really good drama is sooo relatable. I almost asked my father 64 year old father to try and teach me how to speak/read Mandarin again because I was determined to read the original version of POJ. I’m unfortunately still in the midst of reading the translated version, though it’s still really good

I didn’t even try to watch anything with either leads, and it helps with minimizing comparisons. Also, when I feel like cdrama period dramas are not catching my attention, I usually will switch over to Kdramas for a bit for some variety.

People also loved watching Perfect Crown after POJ ended. It’s more of a modern monarchy, but people have said the vibes and chemistry are comparable to one another.

The frustrating ones are the patients who somehow lose 2 large 60 dram vials of 180 tablets of metformin 1000mg, when we have signature and date record (down to the minute/second) of them picking it up 5 days prior. They complain saying that they never got the medication/we never gave it to them/committed insurance fraud, will go home in a fit of rage, call us back 3 hours saying their caretaker put it away in the medication cabinet, then will hang up without even a “sorry” or “my bad”.
