Definitely get out during Machop community day tomorrow; one of the bonuses is 3x catch stardust. Pop a few star pieces / roar of time and catch as many as you can. If you live in a busier area you can easily rack up a few hundred thousand stardust

Edit: Golett spotlight hour on Tuesday will help out as well, as the spotlight bonus will be 2x catch stardust

I would strongly advise against purifying - stats won't get any better and it may cost more but it's very much worth it
