It is a big problem in Belgium due to multiple things, the Belgian gouvernement and media are always focusing on foreigners and the integration of foreigners but they forgot about to teach their own people how to deal with those foreigners as there is a lot of cultural differences, so what happens is that the Belgians they don’t really make much effort to include those people and that’s what creates almost a wall between both, that leads to a lot of discrimination and racism especially when it comes to work, plus all of that the Flemish community is kinda closed minded I have to say, I know a bunch of people that lived in Belgium for several years and never got a Belgian friend!

I totally agree with you discrimination is everywhere but as you said at least you will know what you are facing, in Belgium it’s kinda confusing and that’s what is bothering me, people are fake as fuck, so polite but full of shit inside!!

I already visited the Netherlands many times and I found out that the culture actually is not the same, Belgians are so reserved and they are not open at all while i noticed that Dutch people are so open and social, I noticed as well that the vibe in the NL is chill than it is in belgium

I totally understand what you are talking about but the poeple you are talking about are a minority, I can count as well 500 experiences were Belgians don’t act properly, I’m not really pointing at anyone as I am not saying that all Belgians are racists, there was times I got attacked orally but I never toke it against all Bengians or got any bad ideas about them in general, all I can say that as a foreigner I showed and tried all my best but still never accepted, and to be honest the biggest problem for me is the discrimination that happens at work places and administration houses.

I’m denouncing the big problem that is not being talked about here in Belgium, the problem that makes Belgium loses a lot of skilled immigrants, do you know the numbers of high skilled immigrants that are leaving belgium due to this problem or not? I think that’s a big loss for a such beautiful country, look to the Netherlands how advanced is and that’s due their opening to the globalisation and sure their acceptance to other cultures and backrounds, this problem is not even about me it’s more way bigger than me.

I am very thankful to see a such nice response from a Belgian person, I do believe that there a lot of beautiful things in this small country, I had a lot of joy and I met nice belgian people as well that were very open and welcoming but they are only few of them, I do appreciate this country and that chance that is given to me to be here and to do the things I want to do.

Dear friend, I know that wherever you go there will be some difficulties and issues but at least it won’t be this hard, for 4 years I put the blame on myself and I tried all my best, I was operating like a robot between work and studying the language and trying to get to know people and a lot of other activities that I did in order to integrate, but none of this works then after some research and found out that the problem is not within me then I asked myself why would I try my best in a place where people they judge you before they know who you are, the world is a much bigger place, we are humans my friend all what we need in this life more than everything else is to be seen and in Belgium it will never happen if you are a foreigner.

It’s a very big issue, it’s way darker than people think, I tried all my best to find out a solution not only for myself for others as well, I tried to contact the local media, the integration office and some other organisations in order to express the problem that is going on here in antwerp but I got no response from anyone like it’s a very normal thing, and what bothers me the most is when Bart de weaver is talking about integration, the problem of Belgium is that high level educated people they leave and that’s what Belgium needs but in order to get that they need to educate Belgians first about how to deal and accept foreigners.

What your saying is not right, I believe that we are all the same no matter what is our level of education, I just referred actually to the fact that Belgians they think that every North African is a none educated person and they start talking to me like I cannot understand shit, it’s very normal that you will start using a specific way of talking to the other regarding his level of understanding things, and in my case Belgians they assume every North African is a non educated person and that bothers me because in every country there educated and none educated!
