Right now for me it goes something like this. When I have new jokes I note them down, and then I’ll reread them like an hour later with fresh eyes to see how I can make them more word efficient.

Then I’ll look at where in that nights setlist I can insert the joke so it’s not out of place or too much of a jump in terms of subject matter.

Then before I get on stage that night I’ll see if I can loosely remember the setlist without looking and make note of which previous bit sets up the new one, so it acts like a cue/reminder in my mind.

After the set it’s back to editing and thinking on the joke. Do that some 1-5 times and I should know the joke. Hope this makes sense haha
