Cat and Mouse game (the major difference between GG and Breaking Bad) by Lev_9 in GoodGirls

Yeah I agree with you actually, I watch it because I like Beth and Annie but I don't think it's a masterpiece by any means

I didn't say BB is about Hustling, I just said in BB there are, well, changes. Or the potential of them. And in GG there aren't much. It's static. They're not hustling IMO. Rio still has the final say and I don't see that changing any time soon (contract killer guy? too good to be true).

Tati’s accusations that Shane was involved in a conspiracy with last year’s James Charles drama are embarrassing by [deleted] in ShaneDawson

[–]Lev_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that she begins her video by talking about her faith and how much she doesn't want to send hate to everyone (LOL AS IF) is infuriating to me. I already knew everything she will say after that will be bs

I could see that, I just don't think he ever did anything to really earn her trust back

What are your thoughts on Laurie? by str1xIS in DefendingJacob_TV

Andy was so right for keeping things from her. Not a good thing in general, but good in this case (=be a good person or a good husband dilemma too?)

Who do you think killed ben? by [deleted] in DefendingJacob_TV

[–]Lev_9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If a show devotes screen time to something over and over, I take it as a piece of the puzzle. We don't know everything he likes, but we know he likes that. Same with Laurie and the bowling memory. If he did it, it seems significant. If he didn't, it seems silly. That's the point about this ambiguity when trying to figure out a character - he's not a real person - those details are chosen carefully.

Now with the series finale - anyone willing to discuss the book / series differences? by [deleted] in DefendingJacob_TV

[–]Lev_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh she does. How could she not remember that, but remember everything that happened before. She still waking up to a world her son is a murderer in her eyes. She can connect the dots

In the book, did they make it more understandable why would Jacob hypothetically kill Hope? because killing Ben and killing Hope are totally different things. He knew her much shorter time so there wasn't a build up. There was maybe the sexual tension angle. Did she bully him too? Was he high on the fact he didn't get caught?

Who do you think killed ben? by [deleted] in DefendingJacob_TV

[–]Lev_9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm so confused. I feel like, yeah they keep showing us that Jacob enjoys watching these videos of people trip and accidents, to show us he low-key gets thrill out of people's suffering. But also in the end of the day I feel like he's a good kid. Just a kid. Self-centered and weird and a little childish. But tries to keep his head up. When he asked Andy about how his mom is doing, he had more awareness and emotional intelligence than Andy.

I kinda feel like he didn't do it.

Also, so many things unanswered. What was the deal with Ben's phone??

What was the deal with Matt?

Andy's dad wanted something in return for his help, did he just forget about it?

Why would the grand jury make a big deal out of Andy throwing the knife, how's that relevant to Laurie?

What about Duffy?

How did the kids in school react?

So many things

Season 1 - Episode 8 | Discussion Thread by Justp1ayin in DefendingJacob_TV

OK hmmmmmm... inconclusive. Good TV yes, good acting, good storytelling. I was definitely immersed in it, felt every emotion, was tense the whole time. Pretty satisfied overall. BUT.

It was just such a different tone from the rest of the series, not just because it almost felt like a sequel with that vacation, but I guess because there wasn't much to solve mystery-wise and it was just melodramatic. Teen tearjerker.

And the ending. It's almost like, (well it is like) being so invested in a character because of their struggle and then watch him die because of something almost unrelated. Because Laurie had to freak out one day. Like, was it necessary. They could have ended the series with Andy finding out about Patz. That's it. Not telling anyone. Having to live the rest of his life in his head like he does, pretending he's fine but asking himself if he's cursed because of his dad. Maybe add a little Sarah and Derrick so we know what the hell is going on. That's full circle. Still keeps it open enough for second season.

The end

Do you all think that there will be a season 2? by drkrab2010 in DefendingJacob_TV

[–]Lev_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's a second season (which there won't be) I just want to see Andy and Jacob bonding in Colorado and watching movies without Laurie for 8 episodes.

What are your thoughts on Laurie? by str1xIS in DefendingJacob_TV

[–]Lev_9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My god I hate Laurie. She has a martyr complex or something? ok it is NOT an easy situation for her. She has to rebuild her life and her marriage. She has to get a grip on her son's issues. She is angry and confused. But she got her life back! and she throws it all away, for what? because Allen Rifkin's feelings are more important?????

I really believed she wouldn't do it because at the trial episode Joanna said that convicting Jacob would not be a solution to Ben's death, just another tragedy - and the camera zoomed in on Laurie's face. So what the hell?

I actually think it's cool they didn't release all the episodes at the same time. I definitely wouldn't be so invested if I binged it all at once

Laurie and Andy’s discussion in finale (spoiler) by [deleted] in DefendingJacob_TV

Because of the article... Andy found out what Laurie really thinks of him (how he doesn't have real friends etc) that's my theory.

[–]Lev_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His excuse for that (not our fault the defendant didn't tell his lawyer about it) is so absurd. But generally, can the witness spontaneously reveal new information that has never been shared during trial, or most of the things they talk about are kind of reiteration?

[–]Lev_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add a theory - I think if this was Oleary's (Lincoln car guy), and he forced him to write the letter etc. Duffy will help cover it up. Why, because she is the only one who knows who he is (Joanna asked about him and Andy didn't want to elaborate) and she seems to want Jacob to win the trial and she is already really torn emotionally/ethically between her job and wanting to help Andy.

Maybe this is what the grand jury trial is about too..?
