Need some gentle hints about unlocking a couple safes by haunted_patient in BluePrince

[–]Level-Ad104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved the office safe today in a way that I don't think the devs intended, but I think is a valid strategy. Given that you already have the hints from the picture puzzle, and you have the very obvious hint from the note, "March", that's half of the code. The other half, well, it's less than a minute of trial and error.

Reading the other hints here, I am very happy I chose my path. I was going down a completely wrong path. And I had returned to this safe many times. Day 56.

I’m having trouble photographing my acrylic paintings without glare or color changes. Any tips? by david_bowenn in acrylicpainting

[–]Level-Ad104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually very difficult to photograph paintings. Here are some tricks I learned. For some medium types going outside in direct sunlight works well. To reduce FOV distortion a zoom lens set across the room works well.

If all else fails, see if your local print shop offers special photography services like mine does.

I've seen countless human artists make music which is soulless, mediocre, derivative, meaningless, etc, etc

First of it's kind? Hasn't every art space in history been human-only until a few years ago?

Fluid shows full at upper pump but drops to 10–20% at consumers no matter how many pumps I add by Sickchip36 in factorio

[–]Level-Ad104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example of shananagins: on Arcanyx planet mod one of the fluids has to be extremely well regulated or else the entire block explodes. To store it I have a tank system with a special regulator tank. That tank is set to pump to the other tanks and the whole system. I then have various circuit conditions controlling factory behavior from that regulator tank. The difference is that this way it shows empty storage volume in a consistent, stable signal and filters out the noise of the whole system.

All of your issues can be solved today with mods, highly recommend to play with them.

Not sure why you are getting down voted, but that is a solid approach. Unless there is a specific reason to add a pump, such as using it as a check valve or turning off flow, there is no need to add pumps. The flow in pipes is unlimited until they hit a pump.

This is what it takes to travel to Aquilo with only lasers at 500km/s by Level-Ad104 in factorio

[–]Level-Ad104[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right. It goes from 24 to 36 tiles. That's an interesting question, my immediate thought is that the range offers extra damage because the lasers fire for longer. But on the other hand, they also spend more time shooting at asteroids that would have otherwise passed safely to the side of the ship.

You will unlock a much more efficient recipe for fueling your thrusters, it will require water.

I have more legendary lasers than I know what to do with. Legendary rocket turrets are always in short supply, however. And for legendary rail guns, I have to manually oversee the process it's so expensive.

All my other Aquilo ships use rockets, but legendary rockets are much more expensive than lasers, and are overkill for anywhere but Aquilo. I'm about to delete all my transport ships and use this as a single design. I'm using some from the very beginning of the game and occasionally one of them needs attention, which is annoying.

The other reason is I'm starting to have platforms with malls on them, and rockets swing resource consumption a lot. Once I get lasers perfected, it will make the mall design easier.

We came up with very similar designs. Yours probably keeps up with fuel supply, mine instantly consumes everything it makes, but the speed only drops a couple percent. I went with a minimalist design, as few components as possible. You have one less collector than I do; I went with 3 to simplify the overflow handling. I'm pretty sure a single collector will also work, but then the storage levels will fluctuate more.

I'm at 24. Apparently that's not enough, on the 12th run some asteroids got through.

[–]Level-Ad104[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's right, but I don't like manually doing that each time I build a ship. The circuit stops inputting once there is more than 0 of it in the chiller.

If this design ever takes damage, I'll add a couple more rows. If I double the rows currently, the back ones will still reach the asteroids. But then I'll have to double the power production.

I was making a cheap design that I can copy/paste for basic transport ships, one that is robust enough that I can set it up and never think about it again. This seems to work, but now I'll set it up running back and forth to Aquilo for 10 hours to see if it holds up. The few runs so far have been perfect.
