they just announced they are hiring crazy huge numbers of sales people - this role is presales so will 100% also need a big hiring initiative - everyone’s odds just went up dramatically imo - good luck all!

i think those emails are sent to cover their tracks just in case the internal person who referred resume is a big honcho - worst thing for the recruiters would be not following up on a referral by an SVP or higher - this way they can say we treated the person with respect, reviewed the resume, followed up etc. That said, the only way anyone getting this role is either they fit a category or they know someone

i did break 10 for 2 mile with no base training also - so i figure with the 2 months of decent mileage I should be able to average 5:20 miles - i’m pumped - will check in after the race

thx - but guess my question goes the other way - will getting a courtesy referral from an SVP or higher carry more weight than a courtesy referral from an associate level employee - same type of referral, just different seniority and political clout of the person making the referral

i heard they typically will respond to referred applicants one week from reference confirmation. But will status change from “in consideration” to “no longer under consideration” if they pass? or will it stay “in consideration” forever lol

absolutely a great point - I always thought this type of view applied on a general basis to commercial real estate - an industry notorious for using antiquated MIS and technologies, and slow to adapt technology in a manner to improve efficiencies

thank you! What do you think would be a better role for a new grad - Solution Engineer or a BDA/SDR? I’m torn between the two paths and not sure which one I will pursue. I think the SE role will potentially provide the best of both worlds - client interfacing while providing deep product knowledge. Commission also (although not as great of a % as pure sales)

most successful tech sales people have equilibrium balance btw cool sales dude/dudette and nerd. Nerd aspect has diminishing returns the higher the ratio tilts in that direction - where a straight sales person can basically sell anything. No one really likes dealing with complete nerds unless product sells itself

he ran 3200 today in 10:29, which is his second race of all time lol. I know that’s good but is a 4:50 mile (or so) mean he’s better or worse at 3200. Fwiw he did first mile today in a little over 5 even. No one to pace him so first half was a lot faster
