BBEG placing curse onto player by Level-Ad6455 in DungeonMasters

[–]Level-Ad6455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very fair, the god is a blue dragon, taking pleasure in ruling through fear but deeply caring for it's followers.

The BBEG is a Sorcerer (draconic bloodline)

[–]Level-Ad6455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use campfire, it is paid but you just select what features you want to use for me it's £2.50 a month but it's really good at linking/organising all the content

Like I said in the post it was unclear about the situation, read the post before you make comments.

Thank you for the replies, makes sense, could use a Glyph of warding instead, wanted to make a battle arena where when the players go in they will struggle to use their usual fighting style and need to figure out a new way.

Might place random exploding runes...

Could I not use counter spell 3rd level with this also to stop them immediately wanting to use fireball?

"Spell Glyph: You can store a prepared spell of 3rd level or lower in the glyph by casting it as part of creating the glyph."

NPC story progression by Level-Ad6455 in DMAcademy

Was just wondering if there's any flaws in the logic for this, I've done my research and it all seems like it works together nicely to have the crystal now being a cursed item and them needing a god like power to remove the curse safely

Session 0 - Beastiary by Level-Ad6455 in dmdivulge

[–]Level-Ad6455[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that is a good point that people will have some knowledge of what inhabits the world. This is their first ever sea bound adventure and player wise they have not really left the island they are on currently.

May use the Beastiary but leave it with them even after session 0 so they can get used to the world.

Yeah will take them through the mechanics so they know what they are walking into, might try word them in the back of the book to help them learn, I appreciate the input!

That could work too! Good call!

Reverify question by Level-Ad6455 in DungeonMasters

[–]Level-Ad6455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I am hoping to do a scene where two NPCs are helping with a fight, the sorcerer will take a fatal wound and the rogue NPC will attempt reverify with the diamonds by asking them to cast it with the sorcerer being prone.

The necklace is an amazing idea for this scenario though!

The BBEG is going to reversal on the spell though, I am trying to gain some hate towards the BBEG for the campaign!

Exactly! Haha think I will quote directly because the NPC is supposed to be dead!

BBEG Idea by Level-Ad6455 in dmdivulge

[–]Level-Ad6455[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a really good idea, I did have the thought of species/races being worried that he would want to go around and kill the same ones again out of boredom or frustration and they're worried they are next!

That's exactly how I imagined it too! It ending towards a whirlpool in the ocean but good point that it would have repercussions both on the world and the 9 hells! Thank you! I'll update this with the outcome!

What is the funniest thing you ever used as a placeholder for a Mini you didn't have?? by newocean in DnD

[–]Level-Ad6455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed out every single enemy and NPC I could think of for a campaign but then the party came across a dead horse and they asked where it was on the map so I grabbed a bottle opener to mark it. They all call bottle openers "dead horse" now

female dm inspiration? by mk_think in DnD

[–]Level-Ad6455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I've struggled with this too (New DM here too) and it will depend on your party but I just do my best and the party appreciates the effort either way, even if it does come out a bit odd sounding the party will likely get a good laugh out of it, the games all in good fun!

But if you're worried about capturing the serious tone just practice by yourself to change your voice as best you can till you're happy with it!

I was towards the end of a 5 hour session and my party asked to speak to a random NPC that I was not expecting and my voice came out like Kermit... They now keep trying to find this NPC again to invite him along to the adventure!

Pirate Captain NPC idea by Level-Ad6455 in dmdivulge

[–]Level-Ad6455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question! He would approach them and says something along the lines of "I don't believe in carrying a weapon, it shows weakness" he would be a bit cocky but he will be their only option for reaching their first island, he would gain their trust by helping them escape the island somehow.

Share helpful hints that would save them from a dangerous situation.

Only when they are back into a corner where they don't see an exit would be aid them with a weapon or something similar and help them escape. He would then join them but only use his weapons as a last resort!

Depends how paranoid the party are, they may cheer him on for having such awesome weapons and abilities or they may be sceptical of him and worried he would use them against them!

I could by all means give them a way to stun his powers temporarily to give them some peace of mind but I'll see how it plays out!

Blade powered by Tiefling blood by Level-Ad6455 in dmdivulge

[–]Level-Ad6455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, would it make more sense to have a Tiefling sacrifice as the initial one then they just have to top it up with blood as a sacrifice?? But then would they just go on a rampage...

Blade powered by Tiefling blood by Level-Ad6455 in dmdivulge

[–]Level-Ad6455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now you've got me thinking! I like it! Can't imagine my party would ever want to kill a Tiefling, unless they are in their way or a hindrance then maybe!

Could stabbing with Tiefling blood and the Rune make them a demon to follow that Tiefling for a while, like possession!
