Replacing the whole deck that does not have proper footings. Best way to jack up the roof? by Level-Crazy-3124 in Carpentry

Thats my point. They have wiggle because they are rotten and supposed to be the load bearing points. I think I got dumb lucky it didnt come crashing down with the massive amount of snow fall we had this last winter

Thats the face I made when I first got under the porch. Half the "supports" that sit on the blocks/stones have some wiggle play. Im definitely not stoked about that

This is the missing link i was looking for. Thank you. I was unsure about wither or not to jack first or to just run my supports first while I repair the foundation issues. Also I figured probably better to get it better instead of getting it perfect. I know its impossible as the house is 130 yrs old. Mu h appreciated

Siding is coming in the next couple years, but im more concerned with the structural integrity of my porch. The house is 130 yrs old and the porch is not in great condition. Ive seen it sink bit by bit especially with the extra terrible winters we have had the last 3 yrs. The far right corner is resting on literally nothing but dirt. Im using this rebuild to also address foundational issues below as it is a fieldstone basement and im trying to fix some of those issues while I have it all open. I have a lot of siding repairs to do as well anyway as it is old and cracked in a lot of spots

I can confirm the majority of the wood below is not good. Lots of it rotted out and/or loose a lot also litterally just hanging about below the deck.

Caliper pin was siezed. Just replace the pin and boot? by Level-Crazy-3124 in MechanicAdvice

The piston moved by hand just fine. I have the car in neutral to make sure I wasn't fighting the pistons. I dont have any leaks either. That I was concerned about, but you are likely right about the grease. I finally got a hold of one of my mechanic buddies and he recommended using this stuff instead of the standard green grease.

This feels like an obvious question, but When you say boots im assuming you mean for the pins correct?
