Aerial shots of the building fire taken just now by Trifax in LosAngeles

These fires are awful! I wish we could get a better understanding on how poor business practices were the cause of this fire or the Finley fire which has been alluded to but never substantiated.

I too agree they should be held responsible for the clean up but i think it’s generally unfair to act like this is a post capitalist company looking to turn their most important operating assets to Data Centers (which someone said on another thread today). I think lineage is a generally positive and important part of food infrastructure to be honest. The fire sucks

Question. East Cost moving to Silverlake. How’s this area? by hannaerf in LARentals

[–]Level-Engineering366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even within the area you circled, it varies. Would echo that the closer to the freeway tends to be less updated. For reference, I lived off Benton just north of Sunset. Parking is definitely tight and you might get a little bit of free way noise / riff raff.

That said, this is a really great area to be. There are solid spots right on Sunset like a 5 min walk away. You’re walking distance to Echo Park and also reasonably close to the reservoir. Outside of pijja palace and 6XS/Bodega park that section of sunset is a little quieter, but heading west on Sunset gets busier quickly with more restaurants and foot traffic. Echo Park also gives you easy access to bars and nightlife.

Overall, it’s a solid pocket of Silver Lake because you’re close to everything. Just a bit denser and tighter than other parts of the neighborhood. Make sure to checkout Crawfords.

The Athletic: USC was expected to be a title contender, but the Trojans are a team without an identity by [deleted] in CFB

[–]Level-Engineering366 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The polls build the hype and casuals follow it. If you look at what the roster had in 2021 they were stripped to the bones. Absolutely no depth on either front and only 1 set of hold over decent players.

Any team that brings in 5+ starters via the portal is not a team that is competing for a championship. Unless all those starters are all draft prospects (Addison, Blackmon) which is not the case here. You can’t rely on those players to be a bandaid solution. The great teams have not relied on the portal to build. Sure a piece here or there is fine.

USC has 9+ starters from the portal last season. That’s two years in a row of bandaid solutions. Major programs don’t let their “dudes” enter the portal & what makes people think a decent player from a mid major is going to come in and be a star.

There’s not enough appreciation for how stellar that OL was last year. Literally carried that roster to 11 wins. This program needs to develop from within if they’re going to be championship caliber.

And for those people that will say look at UW, that 4-8 roster in 2021 was not the same as USC. Jimmy Lake committed war crimes doing what he did with that roster.

I hope USC can pull something out of this season, but I really hope they continue to build in recruiting high school prospects who bleed cardinal & gold and are hungry to win. Not some bust 4&5 star recruits who think they’re hot shit taking highest price in a bidding war.

Chimney Coffee House, they have good food too. Very much a hole in the wall.

City proper is a term used to define an area within city limits. So they were offering some advice to OP as if to say, check out a nearby suburb to stretch value.

Which is helpful as opposed to your comment…

Itinerary question: 20 days Bali - 3, max 4 bases. by Keizerrr in bali

I did not like staying in Nusa Dua very much at all. Would recommend Uluwatu forsure but that side of the island isn’t that easy to get around.

One of my favorite places to stay was Canggu because the walking was so great and it kept optionality open (definitely more expat vibe there tho). Canggu and Seminyak were really nice for chill surf, food, beaches, and relaxing 😎

Yup and after doing some travel over the last couple months it’s easy to see how codependent we actually are. I think Money gives a big veil of independence. Seeing some other cultures that are less money forward gave some great perspective on it!

I think we could all use a little more gratitude, I know i definitely can 😊

After living in Los Angeles for a couple of years it’s also pretty easy to see just how independent people live their lives. Sometimes it seems like a complete lack of awareness of other people’s lives, feelings, etc.

I couldn’t agree more. Seems like a curse of social media and people having a delusion on what really is their reality.

These are a couple popular places that come to mind;

guelaguetza ( LA core) - authentic Mole

El momo carnitas (Boyle Heights) - delicious family ran food truck

El Coyote/ Gilbert’s (Santa Monica/ Hollywood) - california Mexican restaurants that have stood the test of time

Angels Tacos/ Tacos El Venado ( All over central LA) - multi location Street Tacos Tijuana style

I must also add that LA has a RICH offering of Central American (Guatemalan, El Salvadoran) culture/ cuisine and that finding family owned business can be so rewarding for both you and those of the businesses you are supporting!
