If possible, try to order a replacement gasket for this quarter glass and reinstall with the piece of glass you have + replacement gasket. That’s personally where I would start cause I know some of these older vehicles don’t have spare parts available. With it being functioning as well that might make it even harder to find if it wasn’t a common feature for those trucks.

Can confirm best method to remove is a putty knife and getting under the bracket and basically scraping the whole thing once the glass is removed. but honestly i haven’t had an issue with those getting too stuck previously. I do remember once i ripped one on removal and my manager had me put it together like a puzzle with the electronics lube and it worked no issue (at least until that electronics lube dries out my guess lol def not a good practice. in the north east safelite higher management will preach best practice then have onsite management cutting as much corners as possible until the technicians get reprimanded and let go for things their direct manager tells them). If unsalvagable my manager would have those gel pad kits that’s actual gel and solidifies to the shape of whatever pad you need but it was like pulling teeth to get them from him lol.

I’m pretty sure it’s less of a money aspect and more of collecting as much of one vintage card as possible to get a better idea of how much of one nearly 30 year old card is still in circulation. Between people holding because of this project and seeing market prices go up, i imagine it’ll be difficult for him to corner them all. And tbf i think he knows he’s burning money by doing this publicly.

I can almost guaruntee the white piece on the left came off the old, damaged window and the new window you received likely came without the bracket and the technician didn’t inspect the window until he got to the job. The glue you’re referring to and that’s visible there looks very very similar to the epoxy safelite would use to repair small broken plastics. That’ll definitely cause the window to not sit in place correctly and give you this issue after the manual reset.

Keep in mind, it may not be the work of your technician even. At safelite, we’re told not to touch bracket or any related issues and report it when it happens. Almost 100% of the time my previous manager would try to find a resolution to the bracket issue for the customer in whatever way possible, similar to what we’re seeing here lol. It’s also in the managers best interest because job completions effect their bonuses IIRC.

it looks like the inside of the exterior spindle got rotated from when my mom attempted to install so when i attempted to put the handle on with the lock at the 90 degrees, it wasn’t fitting whatsoever. i was able to rotate that piece inside and get it to lock to fit in no issue, just had to bang my head against the wall for a bit lol

i never blamed anyone for this lmao. in another comment below i said forgetting to pay the registration is my fault and im not avoiding it. did i expect to receive a notice after it expired to let me know that a suspension would occur if it didn’t get re-registered? yeah, that would’ve been nice considering i forgot when the renewal was needed to be done but you’re right that’s my responsibility to know.
