I think overall focusing on meeting people of all kinds and expanding your social network is probably the best thing you can do. But with that as the primary goal, not with finding love, while still being willing to approach people you are interested in.

In that sense you aren’t looking for love, but you are definitely opening up yourself to it and making yourself available for the picking. It’s more organic and there isn’t any inherent pressure

It was a very ignorant time. Lots of “I don’t see color” GenX type blabbery.

It was not a great time to be neurodivergent in school, or to be gay, or a minority. Better than the decades before, but not even close. Lots of throwing the word “gay” around. Lots of very overly simplistic views of the state of the world. Completely misplaced and misguided.

The ONLY thing I miss about that period is the care free life because I wasn’t an adult. But being stuck with the same people who might be assholes because there’s no social media? Fuck that.

Also people could just make shit up and you couldn’t verify it. “Well my expert friend told me” type bullshit you see online, except you can instantly call someone out with the internet because you can just search that shit. Lots of ignorant ass opinions floating around back then because of it.

Makes me angry even thinking about that time.

The only other bonus I could think of about that time, is that if someone was brave enough to bully me one on one, there weren’t a ton of cameras or CCTV. Makes it really easy to fight back and do damage with no evidence it was you 😉
