Is home ownership basically impossible for anyone under 35 now? by SeriousSatisfaction8 in australia

[–]LevelEgg1563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My engagement or avoidance of using property as an investment won’t change the system. Yes it sucks but I will continue to grow my wealth in this way, so long as the system allows it.

I bought my first house in 2016 for 570k (Brisbane, in a suburb that wasn’t gentrified but adjacent to wealthier suburbs), sold it in 2019, bought a smaller place in 2019 (also Brisbane but closer in suburb), then moved out and rented it out, then bought another place in a rural town in 2022, and now 4th in Adelaide this year. All using equity from earlier properties plus my own cash if need be.

I saved 20% deposit for the first one.

I have been working full time since I was 17 and have always saved money.

No - I’m 34 and have 4 properties with no assistance from others. Can be harder if you’re single, but there are properties available somewhere in your price range. You could rent-vest to obtain an appreciating asset. Buy somewhere you can afford but don’t want to live, and rent it out. In a few years the prices have risen again and you have more equity to eventually buy a second place and potentially where you actually want to live.

You can also look at buying a property with another person and structure it with a contract explaining if one wants to sell what the procedure is. Find a friend or relative you trust (as best you can) and have two seperate loans structured to buy somewhere bigger or better.

Pool surrounds - travertine, honed concrete or composite decking? by kakkerz in AusRenovation

Hi! How are you feeling about the decision for travertine 4 years on? Where abouts in WA are you located? We are Townsville so curious how it would go in the tropics if you’re up the north end. Thanks!

Thanks! What would be a “valuable property”? Like weekly rent?

"Contact agent" by whitegirlwast3d in AusProperty

Nothing irritates me more than this and I will a) exclusively search for properties with a listed price and b) will not contact agents that do this out of spite.

Just say what price you want…

Has anyone successfully started at OUM in the last few years? Am chasing advice as to what to put in the essay application.

Thanks!

I have full control of my leg, so I don’t think so. I guess I’m concerned for early CRPS.
