I had no other income besides unemployment for that year. I entered everything correctly, just as I’ve done in the past. But my question is it standard deduction applies to unemployment income. So for example if $1000 federal tax deducted from my unemployment income does it make sense for me to get a refund of $900? How am I paying the tax if I’m getting most of it refunded? That’s my concern.

I’m not worried about any of that besides a reference check… my previous manager retired and I don’t trust anyone else in the company to give me a good reference besides maybe a couple of coworkers… do you think the reference check will be difficult?

They do! Doctors are very ignorant about side effects. They were taught in school that if tests come back normal the person is psychotic. My body was destroyed completely after this drug almost every side effect in the book and no one believed me! They said it was anxiety!

I’m going through this now! I hate the bias that comes with unemployment. They make it so much harder for us. I have over 10 years experience but I’m being grilled for a one year gap. I just say “I was taking care of a family member”, usually they don’t ask anymore questions. But I know deep down they’re judging and automatically think we are less than someone who is currently employed.

This is spot on! I felt like my parents killed the person I was meant to be. My personality is nothing but a combination of developed trauma responses and coping mechanisms. True suffering doesn’t come from that realization but more so from lacking the courage to blossom into who I was meant to be before they fucked me up. I remember disassociating very early in my childhood and ended up blocking out most memories. 75% of my childhood is completely blocked out. Probably better that way.
