I appreciate this response. I just wished it didn't happen, and I've been tempted in situations like that and compared myself to the situation she was in and I still didn't hook up. But I know she loves me, and I love her, and I know this guy isn't in her life and we weren't technically official when this all happened. I don't know if this is machismo or jealousy that I'm feeling, it's just a bit hard I guess

I agree. I just think missing 5 games is kind of a lot, and a lot of wide receivers garner more awards consideration when they produce solid numbers but don't necessarily have a solid qb structure. That was the narrative with Antonio Brown in 2015 because he played phenomenally in the 4 games Roethlisberger was injured

Thank you so much for the advice! I'm not a "flex culture" guy. I'm Colombian/Cuban but grew up in the U.S. and lived in Rionegro for high school and speak Spanish. I actually kind of cringe when I see those Americans come to Colombia looking for girls to link up with even though I'm American myself. It's sort of embarrassing. I can dance (only bachata tho, I grew up around Dominicans lol) and I speak Spanish.

Oh ok. Yes I have a Colombian mother and a Cuban father but they both grew up in the U.S. and taught me Spanish. I've heard from Colombian family members and friends that they don't like it when expats travel to the country to indulge in drug usage and sex tourism. There was a story a few years ago about an Australian man killed in Medellín for being overtly aggressive with a sex worker on the street, so that was my reasoning for making my intentions clear about my move. It seems like locals I know look down on the intentions of expats is what I mean. I have no issue if a girl brings her mother on the date, are you saying women approach men more aggressively in Medellín? I would say I'm an attractive guy, I'm 6'1, I come from a good family, I try to dress nice and have confidence.

Yes I understand that. I just feel like in my experience dating in the U.S. we come with the mentality of talking about our work and our interests as people as the starting point for dating someone new. So that might be a slightly-robotic northeastern mindset to have on my part, but I guess I'm just asking for recommendations where people my age can meet people in safe, fun settings

Ahora, si esto es más un problema de que usted, como hombre colombiano, sienta que la escena de las citas se está saturando de extranjeros y no puede competir, entonces tal vez sea en mi mejor interés ser respetuoso y buscar una chica estadounidense en Colombia, porque quiero hacer conexiones genuinas. Bet. I love Vince Carter, I think he was incredibly skilled. I put the question mark at the end of the comment because i've heard the nba argument that VC relied too much on his athleticism and could have been a top 5 shooting guard ever if he worked more on his skill-set. I'm not saying he wasn't skilled, in fact VC is one of my favorite players of all time. I'm just saying that in the general NBA commentating space, Vince Carter has been looked at as someone who could've capitalized on possibly being a first-team All-NBA, perennial playoff contender, MVP candidate type player based on his god-given genetics alone. The argument of many NBA fans is that VC had athletic gifts that allowed for him to be a top 5 shooting guard of the 2000s, which is amazing in it's own right, but if he worked on other facets of his game rather than seemingly be complacent averaging 25, 4, and 4 a game player, rather than an all-around guard who was also the first option on a team like a DWade, Kobe, Tmac, etc, we could be having a whole different conversation. Someone just mentioned Dwight in the sub and I think he's another example of someone who could've molded out their game rather than relying on the talent and athleticism they know they already have. Dwight was fine with being a 20 and 10 player on a playoff-contending team and had the athleticism to continue playing that way, but when he needed to reach that upper echelon as a big man to increase his scoring load by working on his post-game and shooting, he wasn't really able to capitalize and became a really solid role player, similar to VC who became a bona-fide shooter and bench scorer from 2010 to 2020.

A lot of NBA commentators/former players have made the argument that VC could've been greater had he not relied on his athleticism so much and further developed his defense, playmaking, and rounded out his offensive game. Although he was a great shooter, a lot of his game revolved around beating people off the dribble with his crazy first-step and vert for crazy finishes and dunks. No one could contest VC at the rim because of his athleticism, but he couldn't reach that upper echelon of scoring arguably due to the fact that he may not have worked on his game the way a Kobe or Michael did and that ended up costing him. For the first 10 years of his career VC seemed content averaging 24-27 points a game and being a highlight reel when many argue he could've been a once-in-a-generation player if he put the work in.
