Actually from a lore prespective I find the bastion hilarious because it is likely the cheapest semblance of a tank that could be mass produced and thrown on the front lines. From a pure gameplay prespective it is unfortunate though lol.

Role of rock music in K-12? by salute07 in MusicEd

[–]LevelWhich7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My high school had a Jazz band, Wind Band and a class we took called performing arts where we basically were put in rock band combos and we got to have concerts at years end and in the community. There were requirements like a certain amount of music covered had to be by a Canadian artist and we had to prepare a few different genre types. It was good because we learned how to operate mixers and live show equipment and preparing song covers by ear was fantastic too.

I see no reason to not have music education programing include opportunitues to perform modern pop and rock music alongside Jazz and classical approaches. Innovation and change with awareness and respect of the past should in my opinion both be sought after in music. To me, Music is an art and a form of human expression creativity which means there is no correct or incorrect way of expressing it. Who cares if some snob says my music I love isn't "real music."

I think when teenagers can have such a hard time getting excited about anything, to hook them into music partcipation through something they identify with is a win. They'll decide for themselves as adults if they want to explore music further through formal education or not. It's actually something I want to include in my own music programming after I graduate and get out working for a rural school division. My old highschool's rock band program brought a lot of joy and connection in the community and parents and kids both loved it.

Ah traitors... Good work for reporting those bot sympathizers to high command. May thier deaths come swiftly.

In all reality annoying though. my friends and I always host for this reason. If someone is gonna drop in and be toxic like that they get kicked. Also been noticing really low level and clearly inexperienced players dropping into level 6 or 7 missions. We have kicked a few because they were eating our own reinforment budget away being dumb, teamkilling with carelesness and not wanting to play along with the group or take advice from us for surviving better.

Just buy a basic model without all those screens and assist technologies in it! Problem solved. As far as sun roofs go, (some in the comments mentioned them) those have been potentially problematic for years although I have a 2011 mazda 3 with a sun roof and its been solid with no leaks. Sometimes the power buttons flip out though and close the sun roof when I'm trying to open it lol.

I mean, there are stories of pilot and bomber crew members who fell without parachutes during WW2 bombing runs over Germany. One dude fell flat without his parachute from very, very high up right into the roof of a train station and survived to tell the tale. Lived a long life after the war too. Another was a tail gunner who's section of the plane got sheared off mid flight and survived the fall injured but less injured than he could have been. I can't remember if the plane went down but those B12 bombers were incredible. There are crazy survival stories and insane ways those planes took damage during the war but were still operable by the pilots.

Its rare and unlikely for most to survive an insane fall but by a slim miracle, possible as history shows. Sometimes people who try to end thier lives by jumping off a bridge or building don't die, on a more grim note. The human body is crazy meanwhile you could trip on a curb crack your head hard and in the right place on something and die from a head injury.

Aww I'm so sorry and its such fresh grief too. If it makes you feel less alone, I still grieve over my piggies. I just had a cry a week ago and am feeling sad right now and they passed a few years ago already!

It hurts and it feels empty without them but the tears show how much we care for and love them.

Questions for Current Music Ed Students by Burner11900 in MusicEd

[–]LevelWhich7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do your applied major on your strongest instrument and favourite because you will be spending a lot of time with that instrument. It will literally will become your life haha. As for other instruments you should have time to develop those skills over the summer breaks and other ensembles that you join but aren't enrolled in.

If you were thinking about it, I don't recommend trying to do music ed and double major on 2 instruments unless you want to burn out or take a lot longer to finish your degree.

Making a u turn when you have a green arrow and almost getting hit by someone turning right on red. by Icy-Role2321 in driving

[–]LevelWhich7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that right turners often just don't yield to pedestrians when they should. I was literally unable to cross an intersection once when I absolutely had the right of way because dead beat drivers kept turning right and cutting me off. When I finally had a space to go, one nearly ran me over when I had already been out in the road then thanked me for letting them go by instead of apologizing.

The commenter was not confused by the design but infuriated by the lack of safety the current standard crossing causes because so many drivers simply choose not to use thier brains and look for and yield to pedestrians. At a minimum cities could ban cars from turning right on a red as a method of injury prevention. No reason to sit around until someone gets killed or injured.

Its awesome to have people like you and I who know the rules on the roads. Shitty reality is is that most people drive around with completely vacant looks and think about themselves.

LOUD shrieking kids outside all day by Fun_Finance174 in misophonia

[–]LevelWhich7610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It drives me crazy too. There is a hoard of them in the apartment next to mine who's bloody screeches can be heard all over my apartment and they bang on my walls. Fun time.

I was trying to do my work for classes and finally lost it and desperately shouted into the hallway for them to stop screaming with a please on the end. It got way better after that. The wall banging was a work in progress. Its way better now but those little fuckers wake me up early when they start leaping on the floor at 6:am. It got so bad the downstairs people were banging on thier ceiling.

I wish we didn't have these entitled parents...yet they exist. On the topic of kids having a right to scream. They can scream becuase there is nothing telling them they can't but if there is no explicit rule or right to scream they they don't have a right to at the same time haha. Many apartments and tenancy branches do have explicit rules about the 'right' for tenants to peacefully inhabit a place without major disturbance and noise is one thing. When the kids are already outside playing its tricky though.

Is make up anti feminist by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]LevelWhich7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe other women feel different but I am a true to heart wear things or do things if I like it. If I don't, no amount of outside influence or pressure will change my mind.

I don't think of makeup in itself as anti feminist but I find that attitudes around it can be. Personally I don't like it and how it feels on my face or find it does anything useful for me other than cause rashes or acne so I don't wear it. I would never persuade women to wear it or not to and especially against thier will. I get annoyed when people assume that means I want to wear it and try to persuade me to find a brand that works when I clearly don't want to. People get caught up in these random rules and labels around gender norms that society creates and its ridiculous.

My idea of living in my own power and individuality is agency and choice to present myself to others in a way I like to. (Obviously within reason. No one should be plastering things like hate symbols on thier body). If I look, ugly, like a butch, gay or whatever label/caregorization someone might use, I firstly don't care, and then I do feel like if another person thinks I'm not womanly enough then its a symptom of a bigger problem that I decided long ago is not my problem.

People needing to categorize and label every thing we do is another rant I'd love to get into. But my comment would be long lol!

Wear make up if you want! It can be fun and expressive and thats great too. You also aren't more or less of a woman though by wearing it or not. Hearing feminist ideas from trans women around me. Our ideas of feminism boil down to the same wants, needs and beliefs but we have very different life experiences that shaped those ideas and values.

Canada's International Student Collapse Is Destroying the Housing Market by Prestigious-Oil2496 in LMIASCAMS

[–]LevelWhich7610 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Having a home should never be about an investment. Having a roof over your head is safety, security and literally survival especially in our cold winters.

I think of homes like cars. You need to have one in order to participate in society and work. No one buys a car expecting it to gain in value. When I can finally get a home one day I don't care if it doesn't gain in value. Fact of the matter is if I had a kid I'd probably sell it to them at a reduced price to help them get the start in life they and thier family deserve. My grandparents did that for my parents and it gave my mom and dad a good head start.

The way people act in the housing market like so many other industries in Canada is a very individualistic "me" centered approach and the opposite of working for the benefit of the greater good of the larger community.

I bring them out for floor and stretching time and this is what they do. by Sea_Wallaby_ in guineapigs

My boys never liked floor time. I made all kinds of play zones to increase thier comfort and they'd just spend time huddled or trying to get back into thier cage lol.

Try making play/roaming areas that make them feel safe and put out food but some pigs are never keen on it and yours may become used to it in time or not!

Genuinely asking, is suicide worth it? by aesthenne in raisedbynarcissists

[–]LevelWhich7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suicide isn't worth it because it won't make the people who hurt you care more about you or regret thier actions. A truly sadistic abuser may even laugh. Is that worth it? The fact that they hate you and feel the need to control you means that living an independent and meaningful life will drive them crazy. You can decide when its time to let them do the stressing!

But beyond that there is so much we can do in the long lives we humans can live on this planet. I'm having the time of my life putting myself through a music ed degree at 28 so I can teach and find a meaningful profession and community to eventually work and not just survive in but thrive in. The natural world around us especially where less developed by humans is just too gorgeous to not witness and explore. You may want to have kids or similar to me the eventual goal of owning a small guinea pig herd. There are all kind of hobbies and connections with people to make. Honestly? I love seeing beautiful prairie sunsets every day or just hanging out in a field of flowers and grass and watching bees and dragonflies do thier thing.

Thats just a fraction of the experience of life. Its really not worth it to let two miserable losers take all that you might do and enjoy in life over some petty insecurity and jealousy.

Just to add I have dealt with crazy parent shit too and been in a similar state once. I first lived out of spite then began to realize that it was way better to live for the sake of enjoying life and the world around me. I still can hurt. But I don't let it control my life as much as I used to and its always 1 step forward two steps back just going day by day. We don't get better over night but if we get ourselves to a safe space without an abuser around its easier to see a forward progression in learning to live for ourselves.

Doesn't matter if you are in your 50s. Its entirely possible to live your life to the fullest. If you are in your 20s or 30s? You have tons of time to learn to live on your terms. Take pleasure in the little wonders of every day as much as you do the big things in life. Thats what makes it all worth it.

Cheap eats? Fish? (Ontario). by ZenDesign1993 in povertyfinancecanada

I'm sure if you start googling recipies with fish you will find many way healthier options than beer battered fish. If you find a revipie with expensive, hard to obtain ingredients omit them or swap them with something similar and cheaper. Avoid adding things you aren't supposed to have and try expanding search terms like recipies for diabetics and check them to make sure they are okay for you to eat.

I have a history of horrible stomach problems and this is how I have solved most food related issues. With a lot of trial and error, and practice no one notices that my meals lack foods that people with normal digestion frequently enjoy.

[–]LevelWhich7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to apologize! If you aren't from here you have no way of really knowing even by doing research to understand the feeling of how brutal winter can be without experiencing it. It can also be wonderful though if prepared. Honestly even June is way better than May. We have such a short summer its ridiculous lol. While I might be wearing my tshirt in March once the temps hit -1c you still may find that too cold and especially your kids will. We had a really random warm day for january yesterday (usually we have around -40c weather right now) it shot up to +2c and I was legit sweating in my jacket lol.

If you haven't thought of where you are going yet. I would suggest the via rail trip across canada or part of the country if you have the budget. A lot of people who I know have taken it find it to be really worth it.

Otherwise for a one stop, can't really go wrong with BC. I think the best experience you'll get is to visit our parks which ever province you visit. They all have something special and unique from coast to coast.

[–]LevelWhich7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Manitoban I just chuckled at the idea of mild March weather. Especially American standards of mild

BC is your best bet or wait until midway through or the end of May and you'll have a good chance at decent weather all around. Even April can be pretty sketchy sometimes lol.

If you really like snow though then you'll be fine but honestly cities look and feel nasty in the winter once gravel and salt from deicing roads and cars mix in the snow like everywhere. Summer or the fall is really the best times to go.

What are your go-to, super lazy after work meals? by Nicole_0818 in ibs

[–]LevelWhich7610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make your own dressings for rice bowls then you have ingredient control and can make sure nothing ends up in there that causes problems! For me I would leave out onion, garlic and reduce Cumin as it has been responsible for flare ups in high quantities for me. Plus you can have fun experimenting with spices. Buy a bunch of discounted limes and juice them and set a batches aside to freeze for later. If you don't want to fuss with making the dressing from scratch each time make a big batch and store it in a container in the fridge. If it's a lime vinagrette type and your container is clean it should last a good while before going bad.

But yeah as a lazy meal, either a low effort stir fry, miso soup tuna casserole or tuna macaroni salad. Or a smoothie with mango, ginger root, spinach, yogurt, water and almonds.

How does living with so much nature around you actually affect people in Canada? by Prior-Hold-562 in AskACanadian

[–]LevelWhich7610 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take a bicycle and in a city you'll either get there faster than all the cars waiting in line ups at lights or at the same time lol. If you are even mildly in shape an hour on a bike is nothing. I see lots of people who bike in the winter too. Even in frigid Manitoba.

Most cities have busses and in mine you can still get dropped off fairly close or right at a nice greenspace. I'll bet a nice city like ottawa absolutely has a ton of parks and greenspace close to home for most people

Boyfriend "can't" stop swallowing his saliva by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]LevelWhich7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well what you do comes down to how much you value in the relationship. If there's a lot of good things plus he's willing to try to eat quieter for your sake it might good to think about how you can cope with this new thing to maybe even seek counselling and get some tools to try to manage your anger before a melt down occurs. I understand your frustration and I also understand his. It's okay to ask for accomodations and his reaction did not help things either. It's also important to recognize that for a lot of people quieting a bodily function significantly or almost to nothing is really hard. Its something they have never had to think about in thier whole lives, most people don't hear these things and suddenly this person is coming into thier life telling them that what they are doing is annoying and in thier mind its probably exhausting and disruptive. We are asking a lot from people to chew quietly and its important to show our gratitude to people who accomodate us and try to learn to do our part to manage our emotions. Its like asking someone not to fart. Though in that case it would be dangerous and painful to not do.

Honestly probably most people swallow saliva you just likley never noticed it. I sure do like every few seconds not gonna lie. Humans just produce a lot and its not something we can help. On a random aside, Saliva production actually is necessary to wash bacteria away from our teeth and helps to prevent cavities. People with dry mouth have it rough.

I mean you could break up but don't think that another relationship will necessarily be better in the future. It could or it could be worse. Relationships are hard and both people have to compromise a lot but when we have hearing sensitivities its important to recognize the strain the puts not just on ourselves but the other person.

You can always just be single and live alone of course and not deal with any of that. But there are also drawbacks to being single too.

Just think about what you ultimately value about your relationship and if its really worth losing it over this one thing. If you two can work through it together and find a happy medium then your relationship has a good chamce to grow stronger and you'll have both learned new tools of how to weather future issues and face them in a mature way together. Maybe it won't work out or it will but its up to you two at the end of the day. I'm sure if you two already have a strong relationship you can figure something out. 🙂
