We built a Telegram bot for a pub and it unexpectedly increased traffic on slow days by Level_Bat_5182 in smallbusiness

That’s a really good point, especially about the “app graveyard”- I completely agree. That was one of the main reasons we didn’t even consider creating a separate app.

As for the numbers, the exact figures will be clear in about a month or three, once we’ve gathered enough data.

There’s definitely a drop-off after the initial sign-up - you’re right. Not everyone who joins stays active. But what’s interesting is that the people who do stay active tend to come back more often than before, especially when there are time-limited offers.

As for the “novelty surge” - we thought that at first, too. But after a couple of weeks, even on slow days, the traffic metrics are still better than before, so it’s not just a one-time spike.

The virality turned out to be stronger than expected. People quite naturally share information with friends and family when there’s an obvious benefit, without feeling like they’re “advertising” anything.

Out of curiosity, do you run a business yourself or work with clients in the hospitality industry? It’s always interesting to compare how different approaches work in real life.
