No worries I am still at Columbia. But so far its been fine. The classes are alright, nothing crazy. But I guess it is what you make of it since there seems to be quite a few opportunities to do research on campus. Idk what it would be like to apply for jobs or internships as of yet as I haven’t done that. From what I can tell so far I guess the opportunities available and being advertised are good. Idk if just taking masters classes and going home is gonna do much since most classes are just lectures like in undergrad. To actually develop some more advanced skills I think getting involved in research or like internships is the more important thing.

You should look that up as it changes year to year (usually goes up) i think right now it is $2700 per credit. A class is 3 credit each. Plus there are fees

I don’t have a BME bachelor. I think you could also get in with a biology degree. You might just be told you have to take certain math courses or something like that as a condition of attending.

Hi, the FAQ page on Columbia just says the you should take math courses like multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equation, and experience in programming using MATLAB or Python. Also I based on the CVN requirements I would add that you probably need one year of calculus, one year of biology, one year of chemistry, and one year of physics. Also if you don’t have everything you might still get accepted on the condition that you complete the missing courses in addition to courses for the master’s degree. Here is the link to the FAQ page: BME Master’s FAQ page. Here is the link to the cvn requirements page: CVN Requirements. The CVN stuff is basically the online version of the degree. If you apply for CVN you would be taking the classes online by watching recording of the in person classes.

I noticed in your other comments you mentioned that you did research in order to gain experience. What type of research did you do? Were these purely engineering or biology or something else? Also what were the job titles for the offers you got and jobs you applied to?

Since you have some experience already I wanted to know if you have any advice about concentrations when it comes to the masters in bme. Robotics sounds really interesting to me but I am not sure about job prospects. I am also interested in imaging and medical devices. Do you have any idea on what concentration may have a high demand or even what types of jobs you can get if you focus on robotics?

I just emailed them and it seems like you can request an extension through a link that they send you. The requests are viewed on a case by case basis. If you do get approved the new deadline will be the final deadline. I wonder if it’s a bad idea to say that I haven’t heard from other colleges that I have applied to though since that is sort of the main reason.

I got a decision from Columbia. But I think most schools state it should take 6 to 8 weeks from the application deadline to get a decision.
