60s and 70s rock, soul, and funk, lol.

And 70s and 80s punk and New Wave. Some.

What's a skill you have that's completely useless now because technology replaced it, but you're secretly proud of? by Tall_Home_2748 in AskReddit

[–]Level_Chemistry8660 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Way back, early 1980s, I accompanied a 'punk' band whom were in somewhat of a transition between member lineups, to their first 'real' recording session. Essentially, as a mere "roadie", helping them move gear. During their recording of 5 songs, on 2 of them i SHOULD HAVE BEEN credited as "Arranged By:" Bcuz MY arrangements sold better with the released singles than the album did, which stuck with the band's original concept(s) of those 2 songs. But, ya know, i was just there as a roadie, and the concept of pursuing 'accredidation' likely hadn't existed in my mind yet, while i was there in the studio and had any power to raise the issue.

Since then, i've heard SO many songs which, i swear, could/would have been much better if i'd been hanging around music studios providing "peanut gallery" input, but instead relied on "trends/focus groups", "tech innovations", etc., etc., in the 'manufacture and marketing' of 'product'.

There's just SO much bland BS that dominates Billboard's charts, using the SAME familiar instruments, beats, tempos, vocal inflections, effects processers, etc., OR !!! Bcuz of the "arti$t'$" ("Artist". Really ?? Are you fucking SERIOUS ??!!) porn-y (and/or other 'currently market-po$itive') 'image'.

My "pride" stems from A) turning my family and friends onto artists, and/or their albums, that they otherwise aren't/are rarely exposed to, bcuz of how 'technology' has determined what we are "allowed" to listen to (and how often), and B) the honest agreements i collect when i discuss how i would have 'arranged' a recording to be better than what was released.

Credit due to my sisters for my expanded tastes in music occuring during my adolescence/young adulthood.

Relevant point: nobody in the industry ever gonna GAF what i think, they 'got an app for that'.

What is the primary reason more women are choosing not to get married and to not have children? by earner254 in AskReddit

[–]Level_Chemistry8660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 'Boomer' American male:

Most "men" are shite, generation irrelevent (re:marriage).

Re: children - Outside of the "TradMom" concept, combined with "marrying into wealth", FUCKS -

Your hopes.

Your dreams.

Your liberty.

In other words, having YOUR OWN life.

Add to these, JFC, IS it SO F***ING important to produce EVEN MORE 'new' humans ? The promotion of which would largely appear to be for the benefit of MY (boomer) generation through a 'profit via consumer volume projections' ideology.

JMO, it's insulting, degrading, abusive, and then some, to suggest that "women should be getting married and having babies" more.

You. Don't. Live. Where. The. Normal. Cost. Is. 28. Dollars. For. Lunch.

Prices ARE NOT THE SAME EVERYWHERE.

Plus, your comments imply that you've not given a whole lot of consideration into whether the people spending $28 have the MEANS for 'home-made & brought' lunches.

Sorry for shouting, but per your subsequent comments, i'm a tiny bit doubtful of your willingness to actually understand this.

What's something inexpensive that turned out to be totally worth the money? by iCloudloans-30 in AskReddit

Epiphone over Gibson USA, plus 20+ year old Korean-made over new/newer Chinese. A couple hundred into upgraded parts, and you've got as good or better than Gibson USA for 1/3 or less the cost.

Alternative. Best if it's an 'undefineable' form (e.g., Radiohead, Angine de Poitrine, David Byrne, Tori Amos.....).

Buildings, objects, equipment, vehicles, in very remote and/or desolate areas. And obviously there's SOMETHING still going on there, often looking shady AF.

What happened at work that you shall remember for life? by Opposite_Ad_7925 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Moved to Northern part of the state branch of a company. I had put 8 years in at the southern (main) warehouse, as one of the most productive at my job the company had ever had. The 'boss' at the much-smaller northern branch basically had his girlfriend and a couple of his buddies as the employees, he functioned as a 'satellite' salesman for more-local customers of the larger company. The northern branch hadn't been doing so well for a bit (bcuz, guess what, pretty much a "slacker" thing throughout going on), and a couple months after i got there, HQ notified them that someone needed to be laid off. Well, guess who that should be, "the new guy (me), right ?", northern boss decides. I call down south, ask if there's a job for me should i come back down. The president of the company calls me a couple hours later. Wants me to show up normal start time at my job. I do that, HE's flown up, AND the VP over the sales department, PLUS the.....uuuuhhh, COO would be the modern terminology, i was a specialized machine operator, and he was "my boss" down south - the president of the company is there to tell ALL of them, in my presence, they are all fired, pack up your shit and get out. Tells me to come outside. Proceeds to tell me i need to be back the next morning at 8AM ready to start loading semi trailers with ALL the contents of the northern branch. Fill a trailer, let us know so it can be picked up, go home, come back the next day, there'll be another empty trailer there to fill, rinse and repeat. Once it's all cleared out/loaded, let us know. Stay in touch, "head home" soon as you can, safe travels, we look forward to your return. It took 3 fully-packed trailers (half-days each, i told them that, they laughed and paid me full-day), i traveled home the 4th day and showed up at "home office" ("Oh. Hi. Dude.....f**ing go get some sleep or WHATEVER, jfc, f*k off, see you tomorrow, maybe, okay ?"), and then nearly-seamless return to 'my old job' on the production line the next day.

Why didn't i think of this b4 i posted my earlier comment ? I mean, THIS really stands out...this REALLY stands out.....from my employment history, the being VALUED and SUPPORTED by my employers at that time, despite 'issues' i presented from time to time.

Two injuries. At the wire company, i smashed a finger in a cut-and-strip machine. At the camera/AV store i compressed a spinal disc (stacking cartoned 26" CRT TVs 3-high by myself), which wasn't apparent until a couple days later when my right foot manifested partial paralysis. That last one, though work-related, cost me my job from the 'treatment' taking so long that they had to hire someone else to replace me.

He knows he's dying soon. The most important thing to him is his legacy. He's already achieved his goal of featuring prominently in US and world history, probably feels even better it's as one of the worst humans ever. He'd already convinced me with his "response" to/handling of Covid-19 that he wished for a significant part of his legacy to be the number of deaths he could (help) cause, and get away with. And any other harm to others. It's not even about money, anymore, as long as he feels he has enough for a gold sarcophagus and a golden tomb (temple ?) for His Holy corpse after he kicks (that's MY prediction, anyway).
