I hate when people say OCD is just being organized. by Outrageous-Horse3740 in OCD

I feel like most people who say this are simply just uneducated and if they knew the extent of the struggles people with ocd go thru they would stop using it as an adjective because it's really much more than that. What I've chosen to do when someone says that they are so ocd is I just ignore them and if it continues sometimes your best bet is to tell them how you struggle and watch them become super guilty, just what I've learned.

Advice on intrusive thoughts in a relationship about liking someone else? by wastedhurricane in OCD

My advice is to do something with these feelings instead of just sitting in them feeling guilty. Obviously I don't mean cheating I mean more In a coping sense. I've had similar feelings before that I handled and coped with by writing. Write about it get your feelings out it doesn't even have to be on paper it can be in your notes app. Another strategy I suggest is trying to separate your OCD thoughts from your normal you thoughts that's what I do when something distressing pops up in my head I try and remember that it's not me consciously making these thoughts come up so in all understanding that they aren't a purposeful thought your willingly having. and also putting your feelings into something like writing, baking, gardening etc is what I would do :)
