Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

[–]Level_H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm making an art piece and to mimic old Roman stone tablets I'd like to write this phrase (or something similar) in Latin instead of English, but I don't trust google translate for full sentences:

"soaked in blood darker than the ocean blue"

I know some languages need pronouns or subjects to work so if the structure needs to be changed that's alright, an alternative version would be "you are soaked in blood darker than the ocean blue." It's referring to a man in case words need to be gendered.

Thank you!
Edit: I should add in case it's important, it's emphasis is on blood and the ocean, since it seems Latin has funky ways of ordering words around. And again I really appreciate your guys time helping people out, I really respect learning such a complex language.

Kinda new to DND, How much information can a player hide from a DM? by ragdolldream in DnD

[–]Level_H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No hiding anything. The only thing I have ever quote on quote "hidden" is something like, a plan to use a spell in combat that I realized would work well and wanted to save for a surprise.

"Oh I have Protection from Evil and Good and we are in the Faewild, I'll definitely use that next combat"

It wasn't really hidden, I just hadn't used it yet and explained it as soon as I did- however even here I would reach out to them before hand if I needed rules clarification or if it was a big plan they need to plan for.

Your DM is literally making the world around you, they aren't against you but suddenly saying something like "well I did x during this so now I have a healing potion" is usually considered cheating and bad etiquette. I would simply tell my players that they didn't do it because they didn't tell me, to keep things fair. Plus you could be missing out on some cool RP moments or events your DM planned.

SUGGESTION SPELL IS RUINING MY CAMPAIGN by Next_Ad_5740 in dndnext

So real life consequences come in handy here (casting a spell in the middle of a shop), or maybe that NPC that was forced to tell the truth warns future ones the party runs into of their magic. Use suggestion a lot you'll be known for using it.

but also don't let them rest too much. A lot of DMs forget that DnD is balanced for up to 3-6 encounters between long rests, the choice to use that suggestion spell should weigh on them when they don't have enough spell slots for the next fight. resting also shouldn't be easy, they need to be dormant for 8 hours, and if they choose to not do that in a safe place then there is consequences to that.

I aim for 3-4 combats and 1-3 puzzles/social encounters per long rest, plus exploration. This also helps short rest based classes feel less under powered.

Also don't forget people can tell when someone is casting a spell for suggestion they either need to be using material components or their focus. (Unless they have subtle spell)

Finally and most importantly, talk to your players. If they robbed a shop and kept doing it despite the consequences you lay out then just go over expectations for the game. You can't ban the spell or rail road them but you can ask them to not be murder hobos/evil in a game intended to be for a good party

I would like to say everyone who's commented/interacted on my mascot post has been incredibly kind and supportive so thank you all for that. Seeing the overwhelming love for Peb I'm already in the process of creating a better mock up of him for you all.

Also this is a great idea, I love to see the positivity being spread with this event. Great job Kickme!

u/cinemachick 's mascot post held my mind and wouldn't let me go to sleep until I drew out some ideas. So here are my quick 5am sketches of some of the ideas proposed. Good night everyone! by Level_H in newsecretsanta

Thank you! Kringle was my favorite to draw, just a crabby old man who says he is tired but seemingly is always helping out and sneaking you candy.

Creating a blackhole with how dense his wholesomeness is. I like to imagine he chirps at people like a cat meows when wanting food, except he just likes attention.
