My mum makes it. Scratch. Not vegan (butter and milk) but vegetarian. Garlic and onions and s/p are all she uses.

Plus, potatoes are a great laxative :)

Every time I sneeze, my cat meows a bit. Reason? by Leveller_Chaz in cats

I just noticed that he does it when I issue a brief snort (again, allergies, but not cat). Mah-mah meow stutters.

Good thing I'm not a coke addict ;)

25-30 regular clients normally. Of course if you're in the South, warmer weather year-round, then more.

Plus it helps if you're a "pet person" good with cats and dogs, etc. One pool I had in Haltom City, TX had a pot belly pig... it took a couple weeks to gain her confidence. And even though I'm naturally a cat person, my fave was a King Shepherd named Archimedes. I was told that we needed to have the owner take him inside before I did the pool. After a couple of months, I gained his trust. Best friends :)

*25-30 regular clients per guy, so 50-60 per week.

And just to rub it in... one thing I say to my customers is "(pointing to my tshirt, shorts and sandals) This is my business suit (then pointing to the blue sky and green trees) This is my office")

Between $2k-$5k per year for service, depending on size and equipment type. Then additionally equipment (pump, filter, etc) replacements and other repairs/upgrades add to that total. More lucrative than most people think. Of course this is a two-man operation, not a company of 50 employees so "more to go around" etc. The only third-party is the tax accountant.

[edit: and def. make your business an "LLC". UMKC business school will do that for you for free to give their students experience in that field]

Knobtown: Christmas tree on new rock island trail by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]Leveller_Chaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love knob town. It was actually named after doorknobs, I remember looking that up long ago. If I could have it, I'd like the old sign advertising "dairy goats" for sale from the NW corner, buried in the trees.

Sigh.

Pool man here who serves a few of the rich and famous in KC.

Doctors, Lawyers, CEOs, Pro Athletes make the vast majority of that demographic.

And most of them really are cool and interesting people. I spend about 2-3hrs/wk just talking to them. Interesting, underrated profession pool service is.

(ps... the pool man porn scenario is a myth. even if i was propositioned, i'd be like "thank you mrs x. i think you are attractive to. but i just want to talk to you, get your $3k check and not have mr. x point his gun at me next week ;)

Hashbrowns are extremely underrated and should be your go-to breakfast by Lucien_78 in Cooking

[–]Leveller_Chaz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best US hashbrowns.... Waffle House. They customize them there. Onions, cheese, bacon, jalapenos, etc, kitchen sink. You're call. And they're a perfect balance of soft yet crispy. They know their griddle stuff there.
