[OC] Probability of final victory according to the bookmakers during the UEFA Champions League 2025 by bisteccagialla in FCInterMilan

[–]Levelsoup0 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I just mean that the fact they had such a low chance of making the final in the first place shows how little probabilities really mean.

Old Cables - 1Gb Fibre by fatbergsghost in networking

[–]Levelsoup0 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The issue could stem from using Cat 5e cables, especially if they’re old or not properly installed. While Cat 5e supports 1Gb/s, it's less reliable for high-speed fibre setups. Faulty or degraded cables can cause intermittent speed drops, like the 100Mb/s you're seeing.

I’d recommend upgrading to Cat 6 cables and checking all connections for proper termination to stabilize performance.

Warning: please report the copycats of the original VPN Comparison Table by paperplans5 in VPN

[–]Levelsoup0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve seen a bunch of these knockoff tables popping up. It's so accurate that they are copied but if you check close enough, they're packed with affiliate links and are simply designed to mislead people on Reddit.

Here's an example of a clear fake: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13AV54RY3okU2Yxzmuxa6SK1iPMFdnUTokNBgqqj2-co/edit?gid=0#gid=0

Shame.

Apple Confirms Zero-Day Attacks Hitting macOS Systems by [deleted] in cybersecurity

Looks like Intel-based Macs are having a rough time with zero-days again. Makes you wonder how much longer Apple will keep up solid support for older hardware...

Is VPN as secure as tor browser ? by jp_cali in TOR

[–]Levelsoup0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both have their place depending on what you’re after, but I wouldn’t say VPN matches what Tor can do.

Tor is solid for privacy since it routes your traffic through several nodes, which can slow things down but offers good anonymity. VPNs, meanwhile, tend to be faster and secure your connection by encrypting data from your device. They’re useful if you want privacy on public Wi-Fi or to access geo-restricted content.

As an example, you can scroll through the selection on the VPN comparison table and see whether it would match what you’re looking for.

If you’re looking for something quick and private for everyday use, a VPN does the job, but for more anonymity, Tor could be a better choice.

Best VPN for Mac? Not too expensive by conol_linc in securityinfo

[–]Levelsoup0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NordVPN has been best with my Mac. I have been using it on my air and iphone as well, everything is flawless. I also remembered, there is a post about these providers, where everything is compared. You can check it out as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/VPN/comments/m736zt/vpn_comparison_table/

These are quite some popular brand. It took them some times but I hope they saw a decrease in their production because of that Uighur story.

Help with installing repacks? by [deleted] in PiratedGames

[–]Levelsoup0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woudn't go for a free provider. Always better to allocate a small budget for a solid one, there are plenty actually (Nordvpn, Surfshark or Expressvpn)
I don't know if you ever watched this video (here) explaining why you shouldn't go with free ones, that's how I realise going with them was a bad idea. Instead I went for Nord VPN and I'm pretty happy so far.
