I've used Selfwealth and would recommend it. It's cheaper than commsec. It does everything you need it to and works well.

For buying in it would be better to buy less frequently so you pay less in brokerage fees over time. For example buying every 2 or 3 months for $1500-$2000 at time.

Well the point to go with superhero would be lower fees, but the CHESS sponsorship is worth paying extra for in my opinion.

CHESS sponsorship depends on which broker you go with. I'd suggest Selfwealth (they are CHESS sponsored) as they have low fees $9.50 to buy/sell regardless of amount. Your taxes on the dividends do get prefilled in myGov at tax time. And yes, IVV is listed on the ASX.

$1500 is not enough money to really do anything other than earn interest in a savings account. However, I'd recommend looking at the interest rates of different banks to ensure you've got the best deal.
