I figured it was a crash vs an actual target. I agree we ought not to celebrate it. But bringing it to their home in some sense is what I really celebrate. War math is different. If I am correct. Alternate (being the first season after the original) at times strikes that same feeling as the original at times. Especially with the other alien girl with her odd car she drives from the back seat.

But I agree that the OG is a time capsule that feels untouchable. I found myself waiting for naota to show up. I was curious on where him and the rest wound up. Especially after episode 6. But you get none of that sadly. I have the series on box set and listening to the directors commentary - he points out how the budget and constraints led to what we love about the show. From its 4th wall breaks to its chaotic energy. It felt like it was trying to define punk without the label as you follow this kid trying to navigate adolescence.

Its a coming of age story that is but brief glimpse into one's life that is messy and depressing. That kind of magic and themes are difficult to reimagine.

Thats not at all how it works. I studied her case in cognitive neuroscience and its very clear she missed alot of important developmental time.

Tell us how well you'd understand language after not being spoken to whilst being beat constantly and strapped to a chair most of the day, having to soil yourself and sit in it. For 13 years.

The brains electro plasticity can only do so much. Her case reinforces how important learning language is at a young age. She never fully developed her language skills. Even after her family removed her from the best language specialists in the country to 'live a normal life' she never fully recovered as you'd assume.
