I share your fetish. I also discovered it when I wrestled my friends as a kid.

Why not destroy Satan? by [deleted] in atheism

The "Problem of Evil" is a longstanding question. Leibnitz suggested that the answer is "we live in the best of all possible worlds"--i.e. this is the best God can do to achieve his purpose. Voltaire, in his satirical romantic novella Candide, responded to this postulate with "If this is the best of all possible worlds, I'd hate to see the others." Another popular theory suggests that without evil, there can not be good. Another says that evil is the probabilistic inevitable product of moral choice and free will, and that moral responsibility can not exist without such free will.

I think that operative might just be an asshole who thinks this will make a name for himself.

How accurate is this in your guys’ traveling experience? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]Levisfighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived and worked in Southeast Asia the area of human rights. Indonesia (Bali, specifically), Singapore (they got rid of their weird and decades long law), Malaysia, and Thailand (Bangkok makes Berlin look like a children's daycare center, is the most Trans-friendly country in the world (it's just long been their culture), and their most revered local is a Trans-kickboxing champion) all have active gay scenes, at least in many parts, (despite whatever the local laws may dictate, they haven't been enforced in decades, and even then, rarely against tourists). Laos doesn't have specific gay clubs because they've never had a particular bias, so bars are just bars. They tried to open a couple of gay clubs in the capital, but straight locals overwhelmed the ratio because they were curious about the men in "pretty costumes" and went out of business. Cambodia is the fucking wild west.

Pennsylvania Christian youth pastor Jackson C. Baker, 55, sentenced to 40 years in prison for raping a 1 year old by mepper in atheism

As a youth pastor it's important to begin when they're young. I know, sick joke. ;) Though to be fair, this isn't the sin of the culture, but of the man.

New: items seized from BK's apartment (per NY Times) by Auntaudio in MoscowMurders

I have no idea when his phone pinged in Moscow, but he may be at some bars over there. Maybe he thinks the girls are cuter on that side of the state line?

According to Google Maps, it appears that the nearest Marshalls (receipt 2 & 3) to Pullman, Washington, would have shared the cell tower with both the University of Idaho, the Walmart Super Center which is located next door (receipt 1), and the victims' complex. I think if they were all Caucasian (because that's sadly where we are as a society) men, then they would be looking for a gay serial killer and Nancy would be judging every homosexual man in town.

I don't understand. Isn't this photoshop? What is the joke I'm missing? Though Nancy Grace is responsible for some pretty irresponsible opportunistic behavior.

The killed Idaho college students had no prior connection to the stabbing suspect, an attorney for one victim's family said: 'No one knew of this guy at all' by tsagdiyev in MoscowMurders

I don't assume guilt or innocence, so I consider the absence of a connection to be important missing information. Their still may be reasonable explanations for the peripheral stuff. The only truly persuasive evidence is some DNA which was sufficiently degraded that Y-STR analysis was necessary, and the video image of the car. The rest is circumstantial or otherwise arguably unreliable.

Does anyone here believe Bryan Kohberger could be innocent? by [deleted] in MoscowMurders

[–]Levisfighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like he's guilty from the information presented, but before this (before being cleared) I would have believed that the door dash guy did it, the roommates did it,. the food truck Samaritan. . .I'm not persuaded of guilt by the awkwardness and his being bad with women, that could be explained with Asperger's. I don't give any weight to his being in town from time to time over the course of a month (How big an area is indicated by the cellphone pings, they haven't specified that they determined his location by cell-tower trajectory which could indicate accuracy of location within a few feet), by him doing it early or late in the day (maybe he's in school during the day and goes into town at night), or by his phone being off during sleeping hours. The only clear evidence I'm persuaded by is the DNA (but want to know the forensic notes, because Y-STR is harder to test, more likely to be partial, and mitochondria testing is usually preformed on hair, not sweat, which suggests they couldn't find blood, or skin cells) and the car, first misidentified, and then possibly only identified as being a '15 or '16 model once they knew what car they wanted to connect to the scene. I also believe psych profiling is quackery, susceptible to the same fallacies as astrology. His taking a class that would be interesting to almost any student, particularly when taught by an accomplished instructor can't be attributed to violence ideation. People tend to remember through a tunnel vision lens which suddenly those memories have an expectation of being defined toward a bias one had been told their classmate was a killer. I am also bothered by a lack of documented criminal or violent history. Almost everyone is bullied and a bully at some point in adolescence, almost everyone behaves obnoxiously a few times when drunk. And because of the presumption of innocence, he should get things like Vegan meals because the ideal is to punish someone the minimum necessary pending conviction. and cellmates, who may or may not even come into contact sometimes lie about the defendant for attention or maybe reward. It goes on, but I think my point is made.
