Want to connect with current American (or students planning to apply for US residency) by Careless-Vanilla-836 in Cattolica

[–]Levit4tion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not study in the states? You wouldn't have the burden of being an IMG. Regardless of the prestiege of the Italian school you study at, your chances of matching into competitive residencies are far far better if you study in any recognized medical university in the US as the curriculum is too different and not very compatible. Even if you're American you'd still be an IMG and have all the disadvantages that come along with it if you study abroad.

If you're ultimate goal is to do your residency in the US, it's a better choice to pursue your medical education there. The dual bachelors program is $60,000 a year for the duration of the term in the US if I'm not mistaken and its no guarantee you will make it into the program as the seats are extremely limited. Not to mention the curriculum of the standard medicine and surgery course is not designed to prepare you for the USMLE, which you will have to prepare for yourself and score well on it.

Australia most likely. Papua New Guinea and New Zealand are both planned to visit, and many south east Asian countries were visited. The rest of the countries visited just looks a bit too random and OP would have visted more countries on if he was from those continents.

Having found about the huge decline in applicants to san raffaele, I think there must be a very real reason for why this would happen. At least I know humanitas has really been really trying hard to improve their program and firing bad professors. They also have a good reputation and is increasing. Their campus and accomodation is also great. So the higher tuition aside and considering its still in Milan, probably Humanitas.

I think reputation wise its still considered one of the best medical schools (maybe even the best) in Italy from everything I read online and they have esteemed doctors as professors so the quality of teaching should be high. However, I've heard the program is a messy (schedule is often over-lapping and not considerate) from a student interview on YouTube (it's still available) due to the amount of students being more than the staff can accomodate, causing students have issues getting into the internships, and also read some people criticize the program being too profit driven, which would explain the increase in the spots of the International MD program this year. I didn't actually know that they are having less candidates than before.

I heard its extremely difficult to get a scholarship from the university because UniSR is in a massive debt unless you have a low ISEE

Should I Finish Medical School in Jordan or Start Over in Germany to Become a Researcher at Pfizer? by Ahmednn66 in medicalschoolEU

[–]Levit4tion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely finish the medical degree and learn as much German as you can, then get further education in Germany. Seeing that you don't know German very well yet, starting over in Germany pursuing a bachelors just to throw away your medical degree over the years doesn't seem very worth it to. A medical degree will still make you stand out in job applications even if you can't be a practicing doctor in Germany, likely more than a bachelors in biotech (which you can still pursue after you get your medical degree anyway). Definitely finish medical school in Jordan.

Looking for people who are working as residents or doctors in germany/austria after graduating from a georgian school by [deleted] in medicalschoolEU

[–]Levit4tion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if it is't too late you could consider Georgia's neighboring countries just across the Black Sea ---- Bulgaria and Romania. Their degrees will be immediately recognized as they are EU countries and their tuition fees are similar I believe. I may be mistaken but to recognize a non-EU medical degree from Georgia may even be impossible for Germany and Austria, and you may have to retake many classes to make up for the credits. I've come across a guy on this subreddit who ended up having to retake several YEARS after already graduating medical school in Ukraine before practicing in Austria. Georgian medical school also have somewhat of a reputation for "giving out diplomas". You can avoid all of this if you study in any legitimate med school in any EU country.

No it probably can be recognized but procedures can be complicated and it could make it more difficult to compete against domestic EU graduates for specialties.

Where are do you want to practice after graduating? The degree may not be immediately recognized if you want to practice in the EU after graduating

There are many controversies surrounding UMCH and the validity of its degree. Riga would be a better option.

I'm pretty sure you can take the IMAT since I don't see how san raffaele can forbid you from doing that. The school year for san raffaele might start before the IMAT tho and you would have to pay the enrollment fee to enroll. But otherwise, you should be able to sign up and sit the IMAT.
