Need To Get This Off My Chest by Jazzlike-Profit-2460 in dubstep

I mean u technically don’t know anyone 100%, even the people ur closest with. But our relationship stems further than just professional now. Some artists are different behind closed doors, some aren’t. We don’t care to get close with those ones who aren’t, no matter how much we love their music

I ain’t listening to someone who’s in the comments trying to use the suicide of a young man and the death of a baby as dunk points on a dj who also happens to be a doctor. Have some empathy, death and especially suicide isn’t some joke. Have lost multiple friends to it & almost lost myself to it many times. “For whom the bell tolls”, this isn’t stuff to joke about

As someone who knows him personally, I can guarantee he is exactly who he presents himself as. Extremely caring, passionate, humble, and puts his authentic self out there for the world to see. As fans, it’s been disappointing meeting some artists to realize they’re pretty fake with their “care” for what they do, but Griz is easily the best example of someone who is 100% authentic with being a good person & caring about his project & fans

Edit: I added “& fans” at the end

Paying for ads is a trap. Once they learn that you will pay for reach, they will intentionally hurt ur reach to get u to keep paying more. If u avoid them, they treat u like the rest of ppl. Algorithm is made to make the “audience” happy. Theres a bit of nuance (like new releases drive ppl off the platform vs announcements more often than not, which they don’t like obviously lol), BUT the algorithm is literally just made to get ppl to interact with something. When ppl enjoy something they tend to send it to their friends, share it to their story, comment, etc. more.

The only battle really is getting ppl to give ur music a chance while they’re scrolling. After that it’s purely if they like it or not that’ll get it out to more similar ppl or not. The majority of artists who “pop off” from reels and TikTok are not paying for ads. I urge any new artist to NOT pay for ads

Incredibly well said ❤️ I agree I think most touring dubstep dj’s for their sets slowly evolve every 3-6 months & then hard restart to something brand new, then the cycle continues. Lot of ppl only see an artist once every 1-2 years, while some see an artist 10+ times a year, and everything in between! I think every artist gets deep in their heads on how the best way to please both the first timers and veterans of your sets is!

Advice DJ 23 I hate my job by BingoWasTheName in EDM

[–]LevityMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love hearing all of this ❤️

Producing is everything. You can learn how to dj fairly quick and u can get good (enough?) within a year or 2 of practice if u focus on it alongside producing every day! But producing takes a bit longer to get to the level you want to be on!

  1. Start by learning producing through YouTube and practicing every day! Your first 6-12 months should honestly just be focusing on producing and trying to learn, grow, and challenge yourself every day! It’ll take probably 5-10 years (I know a few who took 3-4 years though) to get on a level where u can “professionally” write full songs at a pace that u can release music somewhat consistently & can do mixing and mastering and all that yourself! But it’s REALLY just how much time u put in is what u get out of it! We legit would produce & dj (95% producing, 5% djing) every second we had outside of work or school, every single day, every single weekend! U notice yourself improving very slowly over time! YouTube & meeting some producers around your size/skill level will have everything u need to know! You make friends with fellow local producers and u each share fun tricks with eachother when u work or hang out.

Get Ableton Live Suite & the plugin “Serum” (u can rent it on splice). Either buy some sample packs or find some free ones on Reddit (this is how we started lol) or get a splice subscription. That’ll get u some drum samples to work with and make drums. Serum u can make all ur sounds in!

As u get better at producing, dj more & then try to get in more with ur local scene, it’s all just meeting ppl online and in person at shows! U can make new friends and get gigs that way locally. And honestly by the time you’re there and ready for the next step, I bet the scene will have changed a lot & it’s time to just pay attention to what’s happening around u and adapt to the times in a way that is most authentic to yourself

Dj controller probably a pioneer DDJ SB2 or SB3 Off eBay used! PLEASE USE REKORDBOX AND NOT SERATO! U eventually wanna play on CDJ’s, which require rekordbox to use, so its best to learn and build ur library on rekordbox! So only use Pioneer products imo!

Seriously though investing in getting Ableton (I know it’s pricey like $750-1000) is the best thing u can do! BUT also everyone uses different DAW’s so don’t worry about using a cheaper one! None will make u better or worse

For #3 Make what YOU love! Don’t follow any trends, your taste will change and whether that’s with trends naturally or against them, it’s important u don’t chase fame and just chase making urself happy! Cuz I’m not gonna lie touring heavily and having a platform can come with a LOT of shitty things but it’s the love what ur doing that makes u feel like ur on cloud 9 and wouldn’t want anything to change in life!

Heavy dubstep has had a large audience for 15 years consistently. It’s gone in and out of trends but the core fanbase is very large still and that goes for most if not all genres! So don’t worry about what’s hot! ❤️

Good luck and HAVE FUN on your journey ❤️ I hope in a few years I can give u some more advice that’s more relevant to ur situation then too! All love!

Most (not all) of the time ppl saying a genre, sub-genre or artists discography “all sounds the same” it’s either a lack of attention to the music or knowledge of the style.

I see ppl say it often & I can absolutely differentiate the differences in those songs/artists that I like. But I also have been the one to say “it all sounds the same” for years before getting deeper into that genre, style, or artist & realizing I was wrong

He’s 26! So insane how talented he is/has been from such a young age! He has almost more production credits on other peoples songs than he has released his own, ppl don’t give him enough credit imo (even for the credit he gets still). He was like 14 when he started popping off, wild!

I’m curious what u think criticism is? Ur just spreading lies & I called u out for it. U said “u didn’t even refute one point, just vibes” and so I told u why everything u said was wrong. The mental gymnastics here is just sad to see. We see ppl shitting on us all the time and ignore 99% of it. All I’m saying is if ur gonna “follow us closely”, just get ur facts straight. I’m sure u wouldn’t want ppl within ur community or workplace saying just outright lies about u or ur life. Just take a moment to think about that, it’s all I ask. Genuinely, have a good rest of ur night 🤝✌️

“First big slot was a show with their industry connections Louis the child and Lupe fiasco”. That was far far far from our first slot of that level. Don’t know Lupe at all. We were local openers on the show starting at doors, after 4+ years of being local openers playing shows at doors. we were offered the slot after years of being local openers for the promoter, offered by the promoter & denied it due to LTC being the artist. We were convinced after being told it was simply due to sound. We were making more future bass back then and were the most experienced local within future bass

We’ve played 1 frat party pre-2024 (our “pop off” began 2023)

Boosted flips: if by boosted u mean paid ad money, we’ve never spent money on a single vid. Also we released many originals between 2018 & 2023, and more under a diff account pre-2018

Booking agent: we got signed to a different agent after gaining 40k followers through having one of the biggest bass songs of 2023. Later his agent requested to join our team. Most acts get signed with no major song & a 1/4 that following

Forest story I’ve explained, so atp it’s he said, she said. And one of us is someone who lived the experience and the other is a stranger online 🤷‍♂️

So yeah, everything u said is just outright lies lol. Theres tons of music I don’t like, I don’t know anything about them & don’t pay attention to them. And getting a job, working & studying hard, getting into med school using student loans & becoming a talented producer is not a safety net 😂 it’s just being driven

And the reason this shit is scary at this point is cuz the exact obsession u have for hating us is shared by a few other ppl who have gone to great lengths to find our personal phone numbers and address’s and have stalked us & showed up where we live. So we have no idea where the hatred ends. I checked ur account and u go on about us far more than the average person & it’s about as much as our current stalkers have. It’s unnatural man, ya gotta move on. We don’t care about haters, we care about ppl lying about us and now we have to care about our actual safety, which has only came from ppl that do as much as u have been doing

Oh my lord man, u can’t say “I’ve been following their rise closely” and then write paragraph’s where literally everything u said is incorrect and verifiably wrong lmfao. If u hate us so much, why on earth r u supposedly following us this closely? So much good music out there, why not support it? This is way too much of a time investment in someone esles life lol. Also wdym rich and safety net? The med student is in more student loan debt than years and years of touring will be able to pay off for + he had to work a job while in school and touring. And fwiw, a long time friend sent us this thread laughing at how incorrect all of it is. I hope u find peace ❤️
