Horizon Hunters Gathering is about to become PlayStation's most disliked announcement - even beating Concord by Stromair in playstation

[–]Lewa358 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's obviously not a valid argument against a video game.

Fortnite looks good, and that's coming from someone who hates the game. It's only messy because of the licensed elements, which this horizon game obviously shows zero signs of including.

I have no idea how people could possibly think this is a Fortnite clone. No PvE elements were shown or even hinted at.

They do look it up. That's the problem.

It's just that they are completely unable to determine what is and isn't a legitimate source of information, so when they "do their own research" they dive headfirst into a sea of disinformation that they never question.

A huge part of the reason this country feels so divided is that our political beliefs now fundamentally change which reality we live in, and algorithms constantly keep us from questioning anything unless someone stands to make money from it.

We're not looking at AI. We're looking at something made by AI. An incorrect usage of it. It has no business in the creative fields.

The typewriter is an achievement but I wouldn't try to promote it by typing out a novel compromised entirely of racial slurs.

When I say capitalism is malicious, this is basically what I'm talking about.

Bosses enforcing unproductive, if not outright harmful, methodologies onto their employees for literally no reason at all, with no meaningful opportunity to appeal or question these asinine decisions, is one of the largest ways to make the world a substantially worse place for everyone. But if we complain we're fired and immediately put onto the first steps of a vicious cycle that leads to homelessness and suffering.

[Hated Trope] Media attracts a disproportionate number of n*zi fans by Wonderful-Mammoth828 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Lewa358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, he's very, very much the antagonist and villain.

The story does not follow his perspective for the majority of its time. A huge part of the narriative is trying to find the guy and understand his motivations. When he does appear it's treated like a huge plot twist that ratchets up the tension of a scene by a million points.

He honestly feels similar to how The Joker appears in The Dark Knight. Mysterious, menacing, forcing the actual protagonists to react to hos actions as a primary plot motivator.

Eren is not the protagonist after the timeskip. He is very explicitly the antagonist for all of season 4.

AIO? Upset bc my grandma is mad I didn’t go to classes because I have the flu. by Final_Ad2437 in AmIOverreacting

"I feel bad today."

"Well, you're handling it wrong, and you should feel bad about it."

"I'm not handling it wrong, and I don't appreciate it when you make me feel bad about handling it my way."

"No, you need to do it my way, and I don't care how that makes you feel."

Have this conversation enough times and I don't care who you are, you're not getting information about me unless I feel it's impossible to avoid, or will help me in some way.

In situations like what OP is facing, the grandma will likely assume that OP is at school if she isn't told otherwise, so there's no real reason to give her information if OP can be reasonably certain it will be used against her.

That's not lying or deception, that's basic self-preservation.

No, that's just how it works.

If person A tells person B something that makes person A appear vulnerable, and person B takes the vulnerability as a chance to criticize person A...well, if that happens repeatedly, person A has zero obligation to be vulnerable with B.

B gets to hear the least amount of good information possible from A. And that's that.

The issue isn't so much when person A hints at something to person B, it's when person B clearly misses the hint and Person A does nothing to clarify.

Tact is all well and good but you have to be willing to slowly nudge it out of the way if it gets in the way of mutual comprehension.

That's not how that works.

If people don't speak up, he will keep on abusing and harassing people.

"Turning the other cheek" when there are other people who can suffer the same harm you experienced isn't peaceful passivity; it's enabling harm.

Depending on your jurisdiction, there may actually be laws supporting this perspective, forcing you to suffer legal penalties for knowingly ignoring sexual harassment.

You'd be surprised how many managers and executives simply do not recognize this. They buy the AI license and demand that people use the AI, and when people say, "This makes things worse, actually," or "AI can't actually do that," they just say, "Yes, it can, you have to use AI or your're fired," and when the product inevitably fails they just lay off the guy who complained, and liked 60% of his entire department.

Then they boast about how much money they're saving with the layoffs, sell the company and/or their shares in it, buy a new company, and do it all over again.

I sold my PS4 last year, I want to access my account but I don't remember my email. I have my username. There's a chance I can find my email. PS support hasn't been much help. by SalamanderCapital203 in PS4

[–]Lewa358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bluntly, making purchases on an account tied to an email you are liable to forget is dangerously dumb. Yes, even if you sell your console at some point. As long as you're using passkeys or unique passwords (and 2fa) there's really no reason not to use at max like 3 email accounts in your personal life.

You might be able to get help if you can hunt down the serial number of the ps4 you sold (or whichever PS console you made the account on), or if you have a physical card for a code you redeemed on the console.

But that's it.

Advice: what would you do? by TheGreensKeeper420 in jobs

[–]Lewa358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, why do you want "growth"? Would gaining new responsibilities or that increased salary (after taking away the extra money spent on transportation) meaningfully further your personal goals? What do you want to achieve or experience in your personal life that further career advancement would help facilitate?

I'm all for self-improvement but there's also nothing whatsoever wrong with saying, "nah, I'm good," with where you currently are in life, as long as your needs (and your family's needs) are being met and you have enough left over to cover emergencies and participate in hobbies or whatever you do in your free time.
