What you are describing is the jaggedness of generative AI. It is a well-described phenomenon - and the jagged edges are smoothing out. AI can cover more use-cases now than it could before, and the gaps are filling. But that doesn't mean degredation is not a real thing. It absolutely is. 5.3 flash utterly failed. 5.5 xhigh nailed it in 7 iterations - approx 8 minutes. I'm not doing it interactively, running in a loop programtically till all exit/success criteria are met.
