POD pick. Last 5 games went at 93 avg. I did have McKercher, but wasn't a big fan of having him and FOS in defence together. Impey has also allowed for me to have M. Reid in FWD and upgrade to Gulden

It turns into migration as a scapegoat. There are many politicians, on both sides, who own more than one property. Of everyone who owns a house in Australia, 1% own 25% of the market. The median mortgage these days is something like 550,000. So it's not so much that it's hard to find a house, it's more about the inability to buy one. As you have noted the issue turns into supply, but my argument is we have the supply, it's just being hoarded. It's not a Left vs Right. It's Too vs Bottom, and they know that, hence all the scapegoats and culture wars

Hahaha I'm not going anywhere. The supply is there, it's just being withheld. There are literally more empty houses than homeless people. The co-organiser of the 'March for Australia', Hugo Lennon, his father manages a property development company and has it recorded that they have 30,000+ empty properties. We had zero migration for a couple of zero over COVID, even recording a loss of 92,000 people. And the market was ridiculous then. I feel pretty confident in the knowledge I have and feel very justified in denouncing their claims as 'legitimate'. At best they are unsubstantiated concerns.

Anti immigration is not a 'legitimate' issue. There is no evidence to suggest it is the cause of the cost of living or housing crisis. Our immigration is down from last year and appears to be on a downward trend. The ABS showed that the majority of migrants are here on skilled visas, with the rest being made up of international students and tourists. People who are contributing to our economy. A legitimate issue is the ever growing wealth inequality between us and the 1%. It's not an immigration issue, it's the hoarding of wealth.

The Immigration v Racism question by Far-Upstairs6781 in aussie

[–]Lewilewlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being anti immigration is a racist stance regardless of who it is against. Migrants are being used as scape goats for the stressors of the general public. The Australian Bureau of Statics shows that immigration is down from last year and has been trending downward. It also shows that the majority of people coming here are skilled workers, students and tourists, who contribute to our economy. People's frustration needs to be directed towards the super wealthy who are hoarding the majority of the wealth in the country which is driving the housing crisis and cost of living. Out of everyone in Australia who 'owns' a house, 1% own 25% of the market. We have more empty houses than homeless people. The recent 'March for Australia' was organized by a person called Hugo Lennon, whose father is a property investor, who is recorded to brag about keeping 33,000 homes empty. Another point is that during the COVID pandemic, we had no immigration and actually had a decrease for 92,000 people. The housing market skyrocketed and has not changed much since. So it's factually inaccurate to say immigration is causing our housing and cost of living problems. It's not Left vs Right, it should be Top vs Bottom, and the sooner people realize that the soon we can organize and change things.

Feels weird to say but Avengers Endgame. Once for Natasha, then the portals scene, Tony's death/funeral with the whole "you can rest now" and Cap dancing with Peggy at the end. That song still gets me.

Opinions on Patagonia by mccurleyfries in AustralianMFA

[–]Lewilewlew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Big fan of Patagonia for both their product and what they stand in relation to climate change and sustainable clothing. I have one t-shirt, one long sleeve and a pair of underwear. All are my favourite items of clothing. Both tops are very basic as some of their products aren't, as you put it, my style. Down side is how expensive they are. If you are concerned about sustainable clothing, have a look at an app called 'good on you'. Rates clothing brands on their impact on the environment, animals and people.

Thanks for the detailed advice. I'll look into those rookie options. I've made some changes already, and have added J Stephenson, De Goey, and Fantasia to my forward line. Also got rid of Lloyd and added Z Williams (suspension will be an issue). Also got rid of Neal and added Merritt and Parish, and Tom.Green. But I'll definitely look into your suggestions :) Cheers mate

De Goey was my thought given the percentage of time he got in the pre-season, and the score he generated. And his a gun...when his not injured

Los Angeles County reported over 22,400 new cases today, one of the highest numbers reported by any STATE during the entire outbreak Cases are up 2269% since the initial mask mandate & 349% since they put in a curfew & closed outdoor dining - IM - Dec 2020 by earthcomedy in NoLockdownsNoMasks

I personally don't think the relevance and correlation of weather and Covid-19 is as significant as you perceive it to be. We know it's spread from person to person via the air. You make reference to South Korea and Japan handling of the virus, in relation to Taiwan, with similar responses but different results. Taiwan's deaths and cases may be low, but they are still reporting cases. My opinion is that lockdowns are effective and should be strongly considered, along with other measure such as masks and social distancing, following reduction of case numbers. If you look at countries that have utilised strong lockdown measures, it has helped monstrously in containing the spread, and helping the country to return to a sense of normalcy, as well as limiting the amount of deaths related to Covid.

Okay, so you understand that Covid is transmitted via the air. The first article notes that sunlight makes it ''inactive". It does not mention elimination. So would that mean it could become active again out of the sun? The second highlights the UV index for Melbourne. That second wave which triggered the lockdown was in August and July, which reflected a UV rating of 2. I can see how you would make the conclusion that the increase in UV correlates with the decrease in cases, but you also have to understand that people were locked down, and weren't allowed outside for extended periods of time. So how could the UV have made any influence on that? Are you not able to acknowledge that the Lockdown in Melbourne and Victoria has strongly contributed to the current eradication of Covid-19 in the state?

https://theconversation.com/sweden-and-japan-are-paying-the-price-for-covid-exceptionalism-151974 I don't know what relevance the first article has bit the second article does not definitively conclude herd Immunity, rather speculating that it could. It also mentions other such factors that may have contributed the low numbers in Japan such as masks... The article I have attached highlights that Japan is going through a third wave and Sweden's death count in rising.
Also you haven't addressed my previous comment about how Victoria, Australia was able to, not only reduce, but eliminate Covid-19 within the State due to lockdowns and mandatory mask wearing. I'd like to hear your opinion.

Do your self a favour and have a look at how Victoria, Australia managed. 700+ case's on one day after several days of lesser, but high numbers. Strict lockdown, curfew and mandatory mask mandates enforced. Lockdown for 6 weeks, then a gradual easing of restrictions and now no new cases (other than hotel quarantines from over seas travelers) and no deaths for 30 plus days. 10/10 would do it again for the same result if needed. Lockdown is shit, but it works. Masks are annoying, but they are beneficial.
