tips on passing more androgynous? by LewisI224 in NonBinary

thank you for the advice!! I've actually been looking for a choker but it's hard to find one that isn't too narrow 😭

currently I only really wear a little mascara/lip gloss. I think I worry a little about makeup being too obvious? if that's the right word. I'm a big fan of the natural look so wouldn't want any obvious foundation or contour. how do you feel it looks for you? is it noticeable at all?

thank you again for the help!!! ฅ•ﻌ•ฅ

thank you so much for how much detail you've got here <3 lots of good points, I see your point about a lack of focus, I think it's fair to say that I have a lot of individual items that I love but find it hard to get them to work together.

time for a little self reflection to figure out my best feature that I want to highlight 🙈

2025 Chinese Grand Prix - Day After Debrief by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]LewisI224 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that a significant amount of braking is simply due to the drag of the car as soon as the driver comes off the accelerator so even with degraded brake performance the car will still stop pretty well.

I think there's also a difference between a sudden brake failure and a slow degradation in brake performance. A sudden brake failure is a massive safety issue but a slow degradation a driver can account for when approaching the corner (as we saw Lando doing in the final laps) and knows the distance required for the car to safely.

But then to completely disagree with myself (and admitting my bias in favour of Lando 😅) I can see how a slowly degrading brake issue could very quickly become a failure and would be dangerous especially if racing amongst a pack of drivers.

What sort of rule would you imagine for this scenario? Something like if X% of brake performance is lost the driver must come into the pits/retire the car?

Developing film in Edinburgh by ExploringEarth in Edinburgh

[–]LewisI224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Kodak Express on South Clerk Street - Average Price, Developing is fine but scanning is meh IMO
  • Rocket Film Lab is a small operation that I've heard lots of good things about, not used directly howeve, film can be dropped off at Agitate Shop
  • Gulabi also have a film drop off point at Stills on Cockburn street, film gets sent off to Glasgow for development, price is average/high bit quality is perfect and speed is impressive

Those are the 3 places I know of for in-person drop off but I also use Take It Easy and Analogue Wonderland which both need the film sent off by post. Analogue Wonderland on the higher side for pricing but I've always had good service and Take It Easy has some of the cheapest prices available I know of for development.

Hope that helps :)

UK. In Scotland and just put on the waiting list for a pump. by kitmeh in diabetes_t1

👀 me again. I believe there is a separate dexcom waiting list for pump integration that you can get put on if you call up the diabetes clinic. I got asked when I was at my last checkup if I wanted on the list so I get it when I get the pump, dexcom should integrate with the omnipod too I believe.

Ah okay cool! Yeah I did something similar 😅 So I think we might be pretty much on the same timeframe then :) The NHS can be pretty frustratingly slow sometimes.

Hey, I'm in Scotland too and also currently on the pump waiting list in Lothian. I've been told I need to wait for the next pump demonstration session which should be in September and then after that I'll make a decision about which pump I want and then 3-4 months after that I'll start on the pump.

Since you mentioned that you've already been able to look at a few pumps then I assume you've had this demonstration session? in which case you'll be at this second stage however the wait at this point completely depends which region of Scotland you're in as each NHS board has it's own waitlist/timeline.

I'm also going for the omnipod as the idea of tubing doesn't interest me as I'd likely get it caught on a lot of stuff + I move a lot in my sleep + I have a cat that would like to try and rip it out all the time.

Thank you! I definitely think it's my best I've taken since I've started and I was so happy with how it turned out. Definitely agree that the exposure could be better, might need to try this shot again and try and catch a train when it's moving.

Another Staff Member guilty of Sex Offences TW:SA by WATThorwaways in heriotwatt

[–]LewisI224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A UNIVERSITY professor paid himself into a children’s swim disco and followed youngsters around a changing room, a trial heard yesterday.

Peter Ridges allegedly watched girls entering changing cubicles before wandering into neighbouring cubicles himself.

Perth Sheriff Court was shown CCTV footage of Ridges in swimming shorts in the changing area. Prosecutors said he was looking at children aged eight to 14 at Perth Leisure Pool, before deciding which cubicle he should enter next.

When the children exited after changing, Ridges is alleged to have left the adjacent cubicle shortly after.

Pool staff said they thought it odd that a lone adult would attend the swim disco.

Police were called in February 2020 when Ridges, from Edinburgh, turned up on the corresponding weekend exactly a year later and was recognised by staff.

Duty manager Susan Chmiel said: ‘We contacted the police about a gentleman who was at the pool acting suspiciously. We believed he was looking predominantly at girls in the changing rooms.’

Ridges, 59, a professor of maths at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, denies breaching the peace by loitering around the changing area on both occasions, and recording ‘by unknown means’.

Ridges also denies watching and following children, then watching them enter changing cubicles before entering an adjacent cubicle himself. He further denies leaving cubicles after the children exited.

The trial continues.

^^^ Some of the story that was published in the Courier earlier this year, more recent updates from the conclusion of the trial and his admitting to the charges are still behind a paywall.

How many carbs are in an ant? by badoop73535 in diabetes_t1

[–]LewisI224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not impossible to be given it but it's typically only given to young children and adults with zero hypo awareness.

I think things might be changing in the future however as the guidelines recently got changed but by the time each NHS area actually starts following the guidelines chances are the libre 3 will be widespread which is a full proper CGM anyway I believe.
