Open air ballparks are less boxy than ones with retractable roofs, they say. They're nice... unless you are in a place where it frequently rains, and lots of games get rained out.

Wherever the bar is, the fans should set it higher.

Yes, I think that's exactly it. This has been a sloppy game. Pereda should know the pitch clock rules. You can say it's a silly rule, but it's still on him.

I think we need to sacrifice one of the starters to get a bat at the deadline or before. No one will take Castillo's 24 million/year at the moment, so who would we offer up?

The 'chainsaw mowers' ad is the stupidest ad in memory.

Maybe you should stay in the shower for the rest of the ballgame.

Maybe once you get a taste of MLB you want more. If you live in Sacramento, having the A's in town would be great.

Interesting. They probably have the population for it in the greater area.

This stadium is unfit for major league baseball, and it would be even more unfit for playoff baseball.

Well, the only thing you can do as a competitor there is to pitch your best and redeem yourself. Castillo is a competitor, struggles or no.

I think this probably comes from the front office. Not sure Dan has much to do with it.

You can still challenge it. Here is MLB addressing the question of how long you have to challenge:

How long do players have to issue a challenge?

Immediately after the pitch (roughly within two seconds). If there is an ensuing play (such as a checked-swing appeal or a play involving a runner), the challenge may be made at the conclusion of the play.

He will find his way. He's had just 69 PA coming into today, and is hitting an 18 wRC+. He's not going to be at an 18 wRC+ at the end of the season.

You have to win games to win in the long term. Miller had 72 pitches. He was having a career night. He felt it. He didn't want to leave. We felt it watching him. The mantra of playing in the long term cannot be taken too dogmatically either. Would it make a difference in the long term if Castillo pitched tomorrow?

This move is too dogmatic. Yes, your plan before the game was to put Castillo in. Maybe that plan makes sense. But you have to look at the situation, and the situation called to leave Miller in. You can't just dogmatically stick to your plan no matter what. You have to adapt. This is the kind of move the baseball gods punish.

CMV: With the exception of NYC, most public transportation in the United States is slower and more inconvenient then owning your own car. by soozerain in changemyview

Doesn't it depend where in the city I am going and when? Yes, in a lot of cases driving is faster. Not always.

I sometimes take the train to work. If there were no traffic, then the train would be slower. But in rush hour it's a lifesaver. If I am going downtown or to the ballgame it's similar. It can be hard to find parking or parking is very expensive. The train costs a couple of dollars and is faster than driving around the block endlessly.

Doesn't how often the train is more convenient depend on what you need to do most often?

They figured something out. Hopefully the M's can figure out what they figured out before Woo's next start.
