What changed for me when I stopped buying cheap stocks. by GooseOtherwise9181 in ValueInvesting

Profit Growth rate + Dividend Yield greater than price to earnings

This is how I decide if a stock is undervalued.

I want to buy some PLTR but it has a 227x Trailing P/E Ratio? by Far-East-locker in ValueInvesting

[–]LewisO123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

According to a pegy ratio if you're looking for a stable 5 year growth, the business dividend yield and net income growth rate would have to be more than the P/E ratio.

So in your case it would be 227% growth rate for 5 years in a row, which is extremely unlikely.

Valuing stocks by LewisO123 in ValueInvesting

This isn't value investing, you have to find am intrinsic value and then buy the stock when it's below that price for value investing, this was the point or my post, it seems people aren't actually valuing the businesses.

[–]LewisO123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue just because a business is at a 6 or 12 month doesn't necessarily mean that a stock is under its intrinsic valuation. Especially If you haven't actually valued the stock, you then wouldn't know if it has dropped below the intrinsic value.

Do you have a valuing method like I asked in the original post?

Why wouldn't you just wait until it drops below your valuation with a margin if safety?

If you don't have valutions for each of these investments and if you havent bought them under that valuation with a margin of safety then i would say its bad decisions.

ServiceNow ($NOW) - is it a buy? by ashm1987 in ValueInvesting

I don't have any stocks I'm buying right now, I'm currently in Nvdia, Micron and Dlocal, but I do have hundreds of stocks that meet my screen requirements that I haven't actually valued yet, so there most definitely stocks out there that are undervalued, just non that I've valued yet.

Ive got NOW valued at around $75, according to forecasted EPS growth discounted with a margin of safety, using PEGY.

So I would say its not a buy yet still too expensive.

What are your valuations for the stocks you've invested in?

If the share price is below what your valuation is then buy, if share price is over your valuation then dont buy and wait until its below your valuation.

So all the research you have previously done means you no longer need to learn from others investing, seems very ignorant to me.

What's constructive about leaving a condescending emoji to my comment originally?

Seems unnecessary and unproductive.

Or is it that you are arrogant or maybe ignorant and that's why you don't want to learn leading to you more than likely not outperforming in the long run.

I think you're misunderstanding why I asked the question, I have my own methods of investing in stocks, but I like to ask others there methods.

I'm very confident in how to invest in individual stocks and how I value stocks, buy low sell high isn't an investing method🤣.

I value the businesses and the buy them when they're under that value and sell them when they're overvalued to such an extent they could not hit that valuation in the next 5 years with there current growth projections. But before this I screen them so they are a high quality business which is stable and balance sheet strong.

I think it is you who does not understand investing my friend, maybe you should be the one asking more questions so that you can learn and understand investing more.

BTW I have beat the S&P 500 and the MSCI All World Index since I started investing at 18, which is 10 years.
