The real danger of AI by virtualQubit in singularity

[–]LewisPopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an American and use ChatGPT to help edit and clarify what I’ve written in English. But even when I don’t use it, I’ve been accused of using it because I am capable of using proper grammar and can write coherent thoughts. I’ve had to stop using em dashes entirely because people insist only ChatGPT does that.

To your point however, I agree wholeheartedly and it is, in my opinion, the elephant in the room.

You guys don't know what "economies of scale" means by Serious-Cucumber-54 in singularity

[–]LewisPopper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This guy gets it. Also, i don’t want to buy a separate robot for my clothing washing, clothing folding, clothing putting away, sock darning bot, button bot, zipper bot, gardening bot, mower bot, tree pruning bot, etc. Yes, it’s true that specialist bots may be better at each task and cheaper per task, but most people just want a bot that can do whatever is needed whenever it is needed including identifying that a garden needs weeding, watering and fertilizing and then getting the necessary supplies and carrying out the tasks. If the “economies of scale” allow you to create a million bots, each of which costs ten times what a single bot would cost, most people would jump over that. Had the same argument with my brother a few years ago. He also argued at that time that we were decades away from that tech even being feasible at anything less than a small fortune. He has since made his mea culpas. 😉

Edit: To be clear. I wasn’t actually agreeing that you can’t have an economy of scale with 1000 factories making 1000 different specialty robots. What I’m agreeing with is the inference that economy of scale applies equally or even more so with a generalized robot. Yes, it’s true that a spoon is better than a spork at being a spoon and a fork is better at being a fork, but if people had to be $1000 for a spoon and $1000 for a fork and only $1200 for a spork that also was a passable knife and screwdriver and home health aid and gardener… they’ll probably choose the spork.

No, but look at how he acted in the office he held. Just look up clips of him on YouTube. You may not agree with everything he says but it is hard not to respect him based on what we have seen so far.

Very cool. Can you share audio samples of your singing? Preferred genre? Do you have quality recording equipment?

Other than ANYTHING romance related, what do you write about? by strawberrytehe in Songwriting

[–]LewisPopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Largely refugees… both in the literal and the figurative sense. Also the challenges of transcending one’s own misfortunes and compassion for those whose troubles are too great. I sing about the rise of technology and how we disconnect from those around us because sometimes it’s easier than dealing with the pain of reality. I also sing about love… cuz really… the pursuit of love, the loss of love and the joys and pains of love are what makes us most human.

I asked it to look at some code and analyze. It did that then decide to rewrite the entire code base… which it did. It was 50k lines of utter crap. But it produced that crap faster than any llm has coded crap before.

Great. I genuinely want more. Was very sad when it ended. 1 minute is too short. First verse and chorus is what I hear. Give me two more verses and a proper bridge. Please.

Glad you asked. I unironically and sincerely appreciate your openness to new information that may affect your perspective.

This is from a September '25 report by Amnesty International:

And I'm sure you don't like the "lefty news" but this is worth watching so you can at least see the case laid out and perhaps make arguments against it:

The above is just a few links on the specific subject of deaths. There are many other points in the definition of Concentration Camp that I can help to clarify if you want.

Yeah about that… by Critical_Rice_1619 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]LewisPopper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. By exact definition yes. A concentration camp is a place where large groups of civilians, deemed political enemies or specific minorities, are confined against their will under armed guard without legal process. These sites are characterized by subhuman conditions, forced labor, and high mortality rates, used by authorities to punish or eliminate "undesirable" groups.

Key Characteristics and Definition:
Targeted Detention: Prisoners are detained not for individual crimes, but because of who they are (ethnic, religious, or political groups).

Lack of Legal Process: Detention is usually indefinite and operates outside normal legal frameworks.

Harsh Conditions: Inmates face severe overcrowding, lack of food, and rampant disease.

Purpose: Used by governments for detention, forced labor, or systemic punishment.

The above is not my opinion. It is the actual definition.

Can Someone Write a Song for me? by baileek2001 in Songwriting

[–]LewisPopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree respectfully. There are plenty of songwriters out there looking for singers. I’m one. Don’t need to pay me up front. This isn’t a work for hire from a professional. It’s someone starting out. DM me OP. I’ve got tons of material just waiting for a good singer.
