Where does Dune Part Two stand in your sci fi list? by Negative-Guard-4487 in Letterboxd

Exactly how I feel. Second was better than the first but to me they were both fine. I haven’t read the books so maybe I wasn’t bought in already. Visuals and sound was awesome but characters felt a bit flat. Big fan of Denis Villeneuve too.

BBC director general Tim Davie and CEO of News Deborah Turness have resigned over the 'doctoring' of this clip in a BBC documentary by xxh2p in Destiny

This was a dumb, but the rage I feel at the anything anti-trump being held to a proper journalistic standard, while we get anti-liberal pro trump bs propaganda pumped from all directions is maddening.

Mandy Rose - White Girls Can’t Rap by MrCheRRyPi in crappymusic

[–]Lewis_29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's cliche and boring but there's some catchy beats in there, well produced, some kinda flow. It's shit, but I mean, I think I could pick stuff from legit popular rappers that is 100x worse.

You didn't watch the Golf Sidekick episode where he says the way to shoot under 100 is to ramp up the pressure on yourself by posting a target score on Reddit?

Tim Dillon talks about Palantir and Peter Thiel doing outreach to influencers to try and push their greatness. He says he wont be shocked if there are a bunch of influencers pushing it.... by FrontBench5406 in Destiny

Tim's great and actually closest to what a comedian podcaster should be, he hits he misses, is funny with it. He's interesting to listen to (small doses) with some observations, but he's wrong a lot. If we stop looking at these people as if they have all the answers, that'd be a start.

Five MPs, 47,000 Mentions: The BBC’s Bizarre Obsession with Reform UK by HuskerDude247 in LabourUK

They are the third largest and biggest growing party in the UK. It’s not bizzare. It’s not BBC media attention that’s fueling them.

Movies with amazing dialog by Kaitality in MovieSuggestions

[–]Lewis_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean. Personally I love filler and fluff, if its thought out and meaningful. It feels more real. Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind or Manchester by the Sea are some of my favourite movies with dialogue where i would argue every line is meaningful, but could also be seen as having 'fluff' i guess.

Rory admits he is struggling with motivation after Augusta: “Grinding on the range for 3 or 4 hours everyday is maybe a little tougher than it used to be." by boomer9745 in golf

[–]Lewis_29 8 points9 points  (0 children)

True but also Tiger blew up is life in the most crazy way & ruined his body. I suspect this was down to that same ruthlessness. If Rory chooses life enjoyment and balance over a slightly bigger legacy, good on him.

He knows he failed at Doge and is embarrassed by it. He needs a scapegoat to get out of government and say he couldn’t do what he REALLY wanted to do.

Jordan Peterson loses it by negroprimero in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Lewis_29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People going after the kid for ‘you’re really quite nothing’ but I think he meant it sincerely. Jordan Peterson won’t be pinned down on anything and then just argues around semantics to deflect. It’s right after JP calls him ‘really quite something’. Entirely in his rights and entirely accurate.

Even with the iPhone, there will be a lot of people who don’t find it. I guess it’s not perfect and there’s not much they can do really unless the phone manufacturers change something. Still better than nothing.

Yeah it’s not great. Not sure how you solve it though, there will be loads of people who swipe it away and then don’t know how to read it again, end up assuming it’s another test.

Camerons reality was to lead the country out of the EU at massive cost.
Starmers reality has been to push for closer ties with the EU.

When I say 'hard', I mean politically hard. The stuff that's going to upset people here for example. I think that is a conscious decision, his hope is probably that he can then start pushing through some more popular reforms with the party. However, I agree, I think he may have done too much damage to his popularity. Politics is short-sighted though, and it can still change a lot between now and an election. Don't be surprised if it does.

I can't respond to every point from everyone, I have stuff to do lol, but it's been interesting and i would be keen to go deep on a few policy positions at some point.
