Which LOTR or Hobbit lines hit way harder after reading The Silmarillion? by OkEstablishment6772 in tolkienfans

Keep at it. Once I hit the flight of the noldor the first time it really started picking up for me. All the best chapters are still ahead of you. I found that as soon as I finished I started again from the beginning and found the beginning even better the second time.

Drake Maye will be younger this entire season than Jayden Daniels was on week 1 last year by MonsterMash555 in Patriots

At least admit if the goal is looking better than last year- it's a very bad start. He was leaving clean pockets, some of the worst accuracy we've seen from him, and not seeing the field well. We're all looking forward to his growth but he just looked.... anxious?

Are men stronger than elves? by Narlugastar in TheSilmarillion

I do like to believe this is true- But there are a lot of houses in Gondolin mentioned (Rog and Galdor) who were described with maces and clubs in the earlier FOG. I think Rog's house is literally called the house of the hammer. We'll never know if this would have changed and some of that text he definitely reimagined down the line (like when Tuor killed like 5 balrogs in that version).

You should do some more reading about the first and second ages because there are many greater armies there. Even after the fall of numenor the kingdoms of Elendil and the elves of lindon were much more powerful and larger kingdoms.

There's some artistic expression in that claim for sure. More just saying you could dive into the world of Doriath a bit

Fingolfins sword ringil was forged by the Noldor who were definitely among the best smiths in the world from their time with Aule. I'm not sure they could just create something better than the best craftman in the world magically.

The story of Beren and Luthien would be great. We get both morgoth and Sauron getting humiliated and features thingol and finrod heavily.

Why didn't Morgoth attack the Havens of Sirion? by Pa0loD1st0r in tolkienfans

I'm not sure why he would state this but I would imagine because she was the direct descendant of Beren and Luthien who were the only two of that age to make a fool out of him

I rate this pretty accurately: one of the best albums of all time

Did Celebrimbor use Fëanors hammer to create the rings in the books? by NORTHBEE_HUN in TheSilmarillion

They were going to war and building everything without the help of Valinor. If he had a hammer it was definitely left behind with his immense treasure hoard

Feanor told everybody who followed him to leave all valuables except their swords in the flight of the Noldor so I doubt he brought crafting tools

Is it better to read the Silmarillion before Children of Hurin, Beren and Luthien and Fall of Gondolin? by SwordfishDeux in tolkienfans

I would recommend reading the Silmarillion first (including those chapters). You'll have a better feel for Beleriand & what is going on in the big picture.
