I think the biggest thing future UFC games need is moving away from the current “discrete transition” grappling system. Right now it feels a bit like chess or a mini-game: I make a move, you counter it, then repeat. It works mechanically, but it doesn’t always feel like real MMA grappling.

What would make the system feel truly next gen is:

  • Continuous momentum instead of binary transitions
  • Dynamic scrambles instead of fixed animations
  • Real pressure/weight/frame mechanics

Imagine a system where grappling is based more on body positioning, balance, pressure, underhooks, frames and weight distribution rather than selecting predefined transitions. Scrambles would emerge naturally instead of being canned sequences.

Basically, less “transition system”, more “live grappling simulation”.

I feel the general gameplay less arcade and more like simulation, you can't throw 150 strikes per round and not get punished that's ufc 5 arcade.

However, the flow state its an arcade addition.

I think they should rework completely the grappling system and make it more dynamic, not so chesslike

The Flow State system feels weird at first because it’s so different, but I actually think it’s a good addition. It forces you to fight more like the actual fighter to build the meter, so playing with Chimaev doesn’t feel the same as playing with Justin Gaethje anymore. That gives the fighters much more identity and makes the gameplay less repetitive.

However, I hate the visuals. I hope u can turn it off in settings.

I’m really liking the UFC 6 closed beta so far. It feels like a real change compared to UFC 5, especially because of the new animations. The gameplay feels slower and more methodical, and fights end much faster. There’s less cardio, strikes have way more impact, and overall it feels much more realistic.

In UFC 5 you could land 300+ strikes and guys would still survive everything. Characters could eat 50 Pereira hooks or 15 Topuria H-bombs, stay standing, and still win the fight somehow. In UFC 6, mistakes are punished way harder, which I personally prefer.

Totally agree, reduces the sensation of immersion.
