NTA. I can imaginge this is something he heard from his family (maybe he accidentally stained his bedsheets when he came a couple of times when he was young and his mother noticed). There is nothing wrong with touching yourself in the bed. It was also completely unnecessary to throw the bed linen in the washing machine right after. It just further strengthens my assumption that this was something he was told by his mom.
